Re: Design Star

I am just really glad that Tracee got the boot tonight. And her exit speech? Like the judges said....she still blames everyone else but herself.

Re: Design Star

I forgot to watch tonight. I'm glad to hear Tracee got the boot. Thanks for the update!

BTW, who else was eliminated tonight?

Trish's MySpace blog describes the ring finger incident. She said she has a permanent knot in a tendon. She also states Michael V is now a life-long friend.

Re: Design Star

They gave the boot to two people tonight, roses. Tracee got booted for her lack of design plan, she was the team leader and really botched things up for everyone when she went shopping for hours and hours!

Mikey V. also got the boot. His elimination was due to the fact that the judges thought his on-air hosting bit was somewhat lacking.

The re-airing is just finishing up here on the east coast (1-2 a.m.) Don't know if they rerun it during the week though. But you can watch the full episode online on the HGTV website.

Re: Design Star

What part of "we are not afraid of color" and "red is my favorite color" did Tracee not get. If that countertop was black or mainly black with little flecks of white and grey and either red porcelin tile or red glass tile it would have really popped. They could have gone even further and paint all the lower cabinets black. Or have all the cabinents black with red doors. Then that kitchen would have really popped. Instead that kitchen was builders model neutral. Not sticking to the schedule and bringing back tile by 2:30 was a big no no and Tracee deserved to go for that alone.

Re: Design Star

Tracee deserved to go home but Mikey didn't. I honestly don't care who wins now (although I'm sure it will be Trish) and this season is just a wash for me. They hurried the season along way too fast and I'm really not interested in watching a show hosted by any of the remaining three. Oh well.

Re: Design Star

Tracee wouldn't have gone for a red or glass tile anyway. She had chosen a neutral tan/white which would have just faded away. At least the dark brown paint was better than that. But, you're right, Bearcata, RED should have been a more prominent color since it was requested.

I'll miss seeing Mikey V. *sigh* You could see that he and Trish really bonded during the show. If only he had been able to tone down the street tough attitude on camera, he would have gone past monotone Matt.

I hated that kitchen. I hope the show brought in a designer and crew to do it right! The only thing they should leave alone are the floor and the countertop. Maybe Carter re-did it since he was in town. Oh, my...Oosterhous is in the house. And yes, he IS very tall.

Next week the field trip design looks both scary and fun. Imagine trying to re-do a room in you mother's house....yikes. The judges' comments sounded positive, though one doesn't know what caused them to sound positive. At this point it looks like Trish and Jennifer will be in the finals...but, Matt might improve his on-air presentation and slip through. I would think the network would want a male/female finale once again. Although, this time, I think Trish has been the clear "winner" since the second show.

Re: Design Star

At her blog site (MySpace) she's hunched over! Trish is standing with her hands at her hips. I wonder if she had an injury that is causing her poor posture. It would be great to see Mikey V. be her carpenter if she wins a show. I like Jennifer. Her husband was a hoot. They'd be good in a show, too.

Re: Design Star

Mikey (I think it was) was on the money when he said "these people are supposed to be getting a new $10,000 kitchen not a $5,000 make-over". Seriously, where did the money go, did they ever say how much of that they actally spent? To me that kitchen (minus the new appliances) looks like something they could do on Trading Spaces for $1,000.

Re: Design Star

NO! I haven't watched yet but what the heck with sending home the most talented person with the largest amount of fans (not that they know this but they HAD to have known that he would be popular with the viewers). I get sending the one everybody likes to pick on home but Mickey too? Makes no sense to me unless he was too much of a threat to the one they want the viewers to pick in the end? Yeah...reaching there...but I'm trying to understand why they would send him home.

It was his hosting skills. Trish and Jennifer were the obvious top 2 for the hosting, next were Matt and Tracee (with Matt doing better than Tracee) and Mickey V, I am sorry to say did the worst job hosting. He was obviously nervous, had no eye contact with the camera and just rushed through. Tracee I must say was 200% better here then her hosting spot for the Sara Evans room. Also the judges were very specific, that since there was no design to judge in the kitchen that the elimination round would be based on hosting skills. Therefore Mickey V went home because of poor hosting skills. Tracee went home because she totally failed to have any kind of design for the kitchen and she was the designated leader and her hosting skills were below Trish's, Jennifer's and Matt's.
