I know what you mean! I like Trish a lot, but that Quasimodo thing she does bugs the heck out of me!Quote:
![]() I, too, think the right person went home this week. I liked Stephanie, but I think her days on the show were already numbered. (Hadn't she been in the bottom two every week except one?) | ||||

This look with the polo shirts is nothing new. It's been going on for a few years, at least.

| Re: Design Star Another fun episode. When I saw the first room, I rolled my eyes and decided I hated shabby chic (ever been to Pottery Barn? That's all they sell now. If the paint ain't chipping off, it's not for sale there!). But then I saw the second room and realized I would love to stay there. Did the first team really not put in a coffee maker and goodie basket? In a suite!? And the nice warm throws on the chairs--those are the touches that made me long to stay in that room (and I'm not really a shabby chic kind of gal). That leather couch stuck out like a sore thumb in the first room. Any other non-shabby viewers cringe when the contestants buy nicely finished furniture and paint it? *shudder*. I much prefer when they find their pieces at antique or second-hand stores and refinish them, than off a high-end furniture store's show floor. It just makes me cringe... ![]() |

| Re: Design Star ^ Shabby chic can look good if the furniture pieces were "shabbized" when they were found/purchased. You're right that the dark furniture painted white looked rather bad - nasty, in fact. The two bars looked incomplete and something one might see on Trading Spaces when the contestants run out of time or don't know what the heck they're doing. On another note, Trish could use a serious make over. She's attractive now, but as others have stated, her posture is bad. Her hairdo is a bit messy. If she wins, I'm sure the network will give her a total redo.

| Re: Design Star I am no fan of "shabby chic" but liked the 2nd suite a lot, many nice touches. I thought the leather sofa was out of place in the first suite, and the walls were too blah in the bedroom So far my "fav" is Mikey .....a local cop who would make a great TV host for HGTV....he would bring something new and different to the network IMHO. I think he seems like a really nice guy and is talented...go Mikey |

| Re: Design Star I like Mikey as well. I keep hoping to run into him around town! I am rooting for him. Regardless of how he does on this show, I can see him doing his own show for sure! I think the first room just lacked a lot of "soft" touches. They had just barely laid out the basics but looked like they ran out of time. The 2nd room, by using mostly soft colors and all the pretty details instantly made it just what Sara wanted. My question is, the guy said they needed 1 1/2" to get the sofa through. How about undoing the door hinges? the camera clearly zoomed in to it and it showed it would have given them just the space they wanted! I have done that a zillion times. I have also had to take apart stair rails to fit a king mattress on a 2nd floor! lol |

| Re: Design Star I thought I overheard Mikey saying even with the door removed, there wouldn't be enough room. He'd measured what they'd gain, but it'd still be too wide. They could have knocked off the lintels--but that'd be a lot more work! |

| Re: Design Star I think Stephanie was the right choice to leave definitely, Tracee was on the winning team, and actually made good contributions with the headboards and bar. I hope she goes next though, as I really like the other 4 and can see all of them having shows. I agree with this being the best cast season, in that Matt, Mikey, Jennifer and Trish are all worthy of a show, and some of the cuts DePaul, Michael, and Stephanie were better than a lot of previous season final few (and in Kim Myles' case, winners), and other people (outside of this casting show) that turn up with shows on HGTV and TLC. It's just that the Challenges (especially the team ones -- all but one have been individual so far) have been terrible this year. They're gunking up the works just like some other established-slightly-under-the-radar shows with craptastic drama and bad challenges and stuff. I thought that the problem with the couch (and it was really a nice one!) that Stephanie found last minute was that, in the Gaylord Opryland, there may not have been a freight elevator, AND maybe they would not be allowed to take 2 public stairwell's doors off???? I loved the living room of the challenge winners, and the bedroom of the other team. And I do NOT like Shabby-Chic... Kudos to Sarah Evans for taking her role seriously and giving the designers lots of ideas and respect instead of phoning it in for a publicity plug.

| Re: Design Star While I don't particularly care for the "shabby chic" we saw on the show. I did like interiors done when Rachell Ashwell did her show based on her version of "shabby chic".
