| Re: Design Star - Season 2 You don't always get a different IP address, that depends on who your ISP is. AOL and providers like that almost always give a different IP address but Cox doesn't. My IP is always the same but I'm pretty sure that the removal of the cookie should do it unless they are somehow recording IP addresses. Bearcata is right though, the easiest way to do it is just to use a completely different IP or take your laptop and plug into another network using your wireless card. Agree though that is very cheesy of them that you can only vote once per day online but 5 via phone. By the way, thats once every 24 hours and not the start of each physical day. I voted late last night and it won't let me vote today. |

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 I voted for Kim and I'll try to remember to vote for Kim again tomorrow. I'd much rather watch her show than Todd's designing for myself: the Peter Pan Boy-Man show.

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 All of my votes are going to Kim. I've liked her designs and her hosting skills are superb. She comes across as warm and friendly and explains her concepts in a conversational manner. Todd has has some interesting ideas but those designs wouldn't be easy or comfortable to live with. When Todd came up with the bed in the living room plan, my first thought was that sounded like a good idea. For about 5 seconds, until I thought about it. Yeah, it would be nice to wake up to a view of the ocean, but that's 30 seconds of my day. The rest of the time I'm in my hotel room, I'm going to be in the kitchen and living room, and I don't want my bed there. Rob somewhat redeemed himself in my eyes. There were a couple of "Rob moments". I expected a lot of tension between Rob and Tina, but he worked hard and did it cheerfully. And Will is an all-around great guy - love him. |

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 Late last night I placed 6 votes for Kim and early this morning I placed 6 votes for Kim. For me there is no contest if you are a serious HGTV addict. The only time I see a "frantic" host is on 24 Hour Design (made for those with a caffeine diet) and the "We'll help you complete your project" show whose name I can't remember...Eric Strohmeyer (?) is the host and he is manic. Todd can't get off of the waves. This time he drowned me and I didn't feel like the Little Mermaid. He favored one tone of blue and shades thereof in both his individual creative designs; and fire engine red for the family design (they were firefighters - duh) His construction skills are marvelous, but I noticed that pre-show he listed one of his two occupations as landscape designer. Maybe he would be terrific on a landscape construction show. Saturday is chock a block with those...and I love them. Kim's educational background is as a performance artist major, and she moved to New York to become an actress. That would explain her camera presence, which is magnetic at times. When she turns it on, she draws you right in. Her most recent work has been as a hair designer, though all facets of design fascinate her. She has a good eye for color, though at first I was concerned about the darkened walls in the living space, but the lighter toned furniture brought them back into scope. I love that she addressed the dead space between the windows and used a patterned sheer for the window treatment. Todd, I noticed, kept the original drape as well as the rug. I really liked that she took the judges advice to heart and, though it was at the ninth hour, trusted Will and ripped up that horrible carpet. If she had had time, I'm sure she would have either re-carpeted or laid some other flooring, but with the area rugs, the sealed dark concrete added grounding to her color scheme. The hanging divider was inventive, though I would have like to have seen less "raw" wood - maybe stained with more blonding? I like that she took off the cupboard doors and painted the inside the same blue as the bedroom wall...to me, this unified the space. With the time constraint and the budget, I say WAY TO GO, KIM!

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 I'm giving all my votes to Todd. He is head and shoulders above Kim when it comes to creativity. I thought that both hotel rooms were mediocre, but why oh why did Kim do that Retro 80's look. It looked like a family room as depicted in the October 1982 issue of Better homes and gardens. Both rooms ended up looking like mid priced Holiday Inn rooms. Did you all catch a glimpse the shot of the hotel, a little dinky thing stuck between two larger and grander places. The land it sat on was probably more valuable than the hotel itself. All of Kim's designs have been boring in a design sense and especially her use of color. Compared to what David Branstetter does on his show Color Splash, Kim's are downright mousey. He just got renewed for another 26 episodes by the way. Todd at least is willing to take a chance. He is daring and risky and you certainly wouldn't go to him to design for you unless you had the same tastes or were willing to take that risk yourself. I'd love to give him the keys to my apartment and let him "go to it". So for me it is an easy choice Kim for boring, mousey colors or Todd for vision, excitement and a slamming effect. Todd wins it. |

Robb was a naughty boy for telling Todd that Kim was pulling up the carpet. It turned on him though, as the cement floor looked rather nice and it's cooler on the feet than carpet. One needs a lot of cool in Hawaii. ![]()
