Re: Design Star - Season 2

Like somebody said earlier, what Will lacked can be taught. More maturity (Todd) cannot; you'll either get it, or you won't. I also think a Will/Kim finale would have been better....but Kim already has the performance presence. Will will be just fine!

I also loved Will's Designsq

I agree with everyone here regarding the clean quality of Will's designs. I would let him do any room in my house anytime over anyone else on the show. Despite disliking the lime green and black combination on his first solo, the esthetics of that room was obvious.

I think Will will do better without the show. I think he will not lack customers at all, and will have more opportunities to take on jobs that fullfill his design cravings. As a TV designer, cook etc... you must also take on jobs that are selected by the producers. Most also conform to a certain style or budget. Of course there are exceptions, and I am hoping Vern's new show will be one of those exceptions.

Go Will and good luck on a promising career for a very talented designer. You did not dissappoint.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

i totally agree with all of your comments about Will. it's probably for the best that he doesn't get stuck into a binding contract with HGTV, not that that is a bad thing, but you get the idea.

but regarding the remaining two finalists? todd and kim. which one is your favorite?

i'm also really excited to see them all in hawaii, and it's all less than a week away-- this sunday at 9pm!

so i was casually perusing the HGTV- Design Star website and i came across all the past work of the two contestants.

so after doing that, i choose Todd.

you know why?

because todd's wave/splash specialty store room was amazing.

that's why.

Out of the two? I'd pick Kim (although I doubt I will watch a show with either one as a host since I think they are both severely lacking in actual design ability). There is nothing wrong with having a youthful personality and being able to let go and have fun every now and then. But for the love of all that is good and right (LOL).. grow up already Todd. I cannot stand people who act as if they are still teens and refuse to grow up, they annoy me and I definitely would never watch a show with him in it.

I think I'd pick Todd, but like you doubt I'd watch a show with either of them.
They got rid of the few people I might have watched long ago.
Right now it's just a matter of "get it over with and start the fall season, already!"

Re: Design Star - Season 2

Kim does not deserve to be in the final two! I don't disliker her personally or anything, but she basically got to he final three by riding the middle ground and not standing out as the best or the worst. Her room for the West Virginia family was not good...she didn't improve the way the room functioned, heck she didn't even really improve the way that it looked. Will's room was by far the best room in my opinion. The it was a good room, one that catered to the physical needs of the little girl but still was a mature room that she can grow into. I thought this show was about design...Will can be taught to be a better host-it would be a lot easier than making Kim a designer.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

I agree that Kim never should have made it to the final 2. The room for the family that she designed was very ho-hum. Of course they loved it because it was an extreme improvement over what they had. I would have loved to see what some of the elimininated designers such as Sparkle Josh and Scott would have done with that room. Just because Kim is comfortable around the cameras and likes to decorate, doesn't mean she should host a design show.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

Okay... I thought Todd was about 30-35... but they just showed his son? The kid is easily late teens at the youngest. Now I'm going to have to see if I can find out Todd's true age.

eta: Okay, Todd IS 35. He apparently had his son early... good looking kid (in the fleeting glimpse that I caught.)

ACK... Will and Robb are back. They will be switching up helpers between day one and two. Todd picks Will for day one, as he says that having Kim work with Robb on day one will throw her off.

Wow, leave it to Robb to be a major ass still. And when he gave that wink to the camera while watching Will and Kim rip out the carpet, then go tell Todd what they were doing, I wished so badly I could reach through the set and just slap that smug assinine face of his.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

It's beyond my understanding why Robb was allowed to come back for such an important episode.
