Re: Design Star - Season 2

I don't have any predictions about who will win, since obviously there is no balance to the voting, as usual with viewer vote-in shows. Whoever above was saying Todd is eye candy or whatever... I certainly don't understand that, since no woman (or man) I know or talk about this show with thinks he's even the least bit attractive. In fact, I'll go so far as to say I think he's more on the homely side, and probably some of that in my mind has to do with his obnoxious personality, which is always a factor to me when I think in terms of someone's physical attractiveness. I also certainly haven't seen any of the judges fawn over him. But aside from looks, I really dislike Todd. He's obnoxious and answers only to himself, the client be damned. He needs to work somewhere that doesn't involve other human beings, and I'm sure he'll be just fine.

Kim is certainly the most deserving of the two left. Not the best designer of the competitors this season, but certainly better than Todd. And she can work with anyone, and she is comfortable on camera. Not that I'd watch her show if she wins, but I'm just saying she's the more deserving.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

I absolutely hated Kim's room. I thought it just looked really cheap and ill designed. I was prepared to hate Todd's room because I read the posts in here before watching the show, however, it wasn't that bad. I just don't like him and would not watch a show with him... I'm also not seeing the eye candy appeal. I didn't under his furniture placement at all. They said they watch tv as a family, so he puts the longest section of the sectional in a place where the tv can't be seen? *sighs*

I do like Kim's personality and would tune in (if I can remember to) at least one of her shows if she won to see if I liked it.

Pity about Will, he was my favorite from the beginning and I would have watched his show. I would love to see a show with him and Sparkle Josh. I loved his room and felt that he was the only one who truly listened to his client and I thought it was sweet that he painted the walls the way he did specifically to give the illusion of a lower ceiling so it wouldn't look so tall to somebody wheel chair bound.

Will was never my favorite, but he did seem sweet on that last show, I agree. But his presenter skills were lacking, so I wasn't surprised they didn't advance him to the finals. At least if he is that sweet in real life, he should have a good life, which is more important than a TV show.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

I am going to vote for Kim.

Since the very first show, I was never impressed with Todd, looks-wise as well as design-wise. Putting a half-pipe in a living area does absolutely nothing for me. Ditto on putting in a revolving platform. His "wave" room did not impress me either. To me, he is a 35-year-old BOY who has never grown up. Remember him running into that wedding reception room and screaming and clowning around, doing flips? I cracked up when he tried to do a handstand or whatever on that table and it crashed! The whole surfer dude thing....come on, that is not attractive in a 35 year old!

In his Indiana home design, I saw the toy boxes as an accident waiting to happen as well as that hammock. I think the homeowners could basically rotate the new furniture around to make it work. Put the chaises over where the long part of the sectional was ( at an angle facing the fireplace/tv like they were set up on the other wall), have the long part of the sectional along the wall opposite the fireplace/tv and have what Todd put along that wall on the wall that had the chaises. (I really am having trouble trying to describe this! Just sort of rotate all the furniture by 45 degrees in that room) Then all the furniture would face the fireplace and everyone could see the tv. It would also allow a better entrance/exit into that seating area from the other room. As it was on the show, people would have to walk around the long section of the sectional just to get into the seating area.

While I agree that Kim will need a lot of work to become the next design star, I love how she is so at ease in front of the camera. I also loved how she stood her ground with Robb in Wayne Newton's guesthouse kitchen challenge. Anyone who could put up with that tool deserves some credit!

On the latest challenge, in West Virginia, I would have put two chairs in front of the wood stove. Not just one lone one sitting there. I think she did as much as she could with a double wide trailer, and she did give the owners what they said they wanted. I also liked the fact that she didn't have to do the dining area but did mainly because these people had nothing and she had a $10,000 budget. Showed us that she cared which is another plus in my book!

Will was so gracious at the end. And I really think he was sincere about how Bridget affected him.

Is it wrong of me to daydream that during that task, that he had half-piped off that stupid thing, out the window, and sailed off into the air to never be seen again?

I was so certain that Todd was going to be the first one gone in that first show. A half pipe and a sunken dining room that they couldn't access by stairs???? Much worse than the graffiti doorway!

Re: Design Star - Season 2

Will should have been in the final two. Granted he does not have great camara skills yet, but as Vern said when they were disccusing everything, it can be learned. From the design standpoint, Will is better then Kim I think. The room he did for the girl in the wheelchair was just amazing. And the one thing he is better at then both Kim and Todd I think is his ability to really get to the nuts of the project for what is needed for that person. Todd did as good as he could for the family of two thousand, but I didn't like his spacing as well. With Kim, the one thing that was horrible about the room, and was NOT mentioned at all on the show which shocked me was the color of the rug. Off WHITE??? The are in West Virginia and he is a coal miner. Sorry, as much as I hate dark rugs, that was a MUST for them. It won't last long..no way at all.

The painting that Will did on the walls, making the room look a little smaller for the girl was BRILLIANT. If I had to pick one person to design my house out of the final three, I'd pick Will in a second. Todd is great, but he wants to go over the top too much I think.

I got the feeling that Vern would have kept Will over Todd.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

The top three rated designs by the viewers are Will's rooms. The number one room is the Will/Josh collaboration. He does have an eye for detail and clean lines. He'll do very well in the future.

*dies laughing* Is it wrong of me to have wished the same thing? I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw what a diamond in the rough Will was. I completely agree that he lacked host skills (and evidently that's what this is... a hosting show) but his niceness won me over and that's why I'd be fine with Kim winning. She's nice and her personality doesn't grate.

I completely forgot about Todd flipping the table over. HA! And it was Will who was standing right next to him laughing his butt off.

What impressed me the most about Will and his final room was that he somehow managed to make it look like a small suite (what the girl asked for). I was worried that he would have no choice but to make a room that had all the furniture pushed to the walls with the middle bare (so she could move around) and somehow he managed to not make it look like that. Brilliant design and I hope his career takes off after this.
