| Re: Design Star - Season 2 On David's show, Danielle is a color specialist. She isn't a co-host per se, but a skilled helper. She was a colorist on Design Remix as well - Karen MacAloon's previous show. What I like about her is that she is bright and bubbly, approves of his design and stays out of his way. I finally got to watch last night's final three show (and did sit through the whole marathon to get there - whew!) My problem with Kim's design is something she demonstrated while doing it...mud from rain on a new carpet. Perhaps she could have gone with an attractive lino-type tile which could be swiped with a mop. I also hope she bought furniture (especially the couch) that has easy clean (olean?) upholstery. One of the wife's complaints was the coal dust staining the upholstery. The girl said she like a slight off-white as wall color, yet Will gave her fruit colored large blocks. Yes, the room was sleek and clean, but the decoration was too adult even for a high school girl. Where was the cork board for her snapshots, or the station for her computer, or hobbies? It looked to me like a high end hotel room. Poor Todd...a structural beam almost did him in. He worked around it well, though, and provided a lot of comfy seating as well as storage. It wasn't the Todd we've come to know and wonder at, but a Todd who pleased the client. I was concerned about the hammock for the little girls next to the storage bench...there is potential there for them to fall out and hurt themselves. Hawaii!!!! No glass cubes in Las Vegas, baby! It appeared from the preview that they each have a regular type Hawaii room to work with...they even got to take a ride in an outrigger - what fun. Looking forward to it.

Yes, we can vote after next week's episode. You can rate this week's work there, but you have to be registered.

My personal vote is for Kim to win, but I think Todd could very well win based on the "eye candy" factor. While Todd is definitely talented, I don't think he would be able to present a lot of "normal" things/ideas for the viewers to take home and use.(A revolving living room set? A half-pipe in the middle of your house?) Kim, on the other hand, does seem to have good ideas that can be taken by the normal HGTV watcher and interpreted to meet their own specific needs. While they both are good at hosting, Kim absolutely excels here. IMO, Todd's hosting "style" is a bit too frantic and would get on my nerves sooner rather than later. | |||

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 Well, Todd's mentality presented itself when he showed up with a skateboard, and it made regular appearances throughout the show. There is just something about adults who remain in "Peter Pan-land", usually men, that doesn't bode well, to me. This mentality has been pervasive in his design work, I think. Who is going to turn that stupid rotating platform around everytime somebody wants a different view of that little room, and how soon will that get old?? Honestly, I thought that should have been on a computerized mechanism, but I'm sure money wouldn't allow, nor do I think it was even considered. I was wondering about the weight of the platform and furniture. Wayne is no spring chicken, you know. And the shirtless crap got on my nerves, too. Personally, I didn't find him to be that "yummy". Oh well.........I guess it's obvious that he won't be getting my vote.

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 Personally as a woman, I would never vote for Todd. He's pure fluff. I really didn't like Kim's design, I don't think she did either, but it was EXACTLY what the homeowner's wanted. And that's what counts. Kim has my vote. |

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 Some people find Todd's energy "infectious". I find it annoying. He's like a kid, a really BIG kid, who's had too much sugar! Although Sparkle Josh was my favorite from the beginning, Kim was the one I thought would surprise me throughout the show. I did have concerns about her design this week as well - in particular, the carpeting. Did she really think the only day it ever rains there is the day she was visiting? Vinyl or laminate tile type flooring would have been much more suitable. Will's room wasn't what MY teenager would have like, but it was nice to see how she had an effect on him. He has a big heart. Todd used my most favorite colors and I loved those fainting couch-chaise type chairs. Wouldn't mind having two of those myself. HOWEVER - that toychest is an accident waiting to happen. Sure hope that he installed some kind of child-safe hinges after the cameras stopped rolling. The hammock would mysteriously disappear from the room if that were my house - and the sooner, the better. |

| Re: Design Star - Season 2 I was also wondering why no one mentioned the danger of the toy chests. And somebody is going to flip right out of that hammock.
