Re: Design Star - Season 2

I think that Robb comes across very egotistical. It is almost like watching Jeremy Piven. They have the same personalities! (no offense to any Jeremy Piven Fans) I too can not see any of the remaining people having a show. Robb has good ideas but he is so annoying that I wouldn't hire him for anything. I have lost the urge to watch this every week now. It seems so blah. Last year was great but not this year. I will tune in just because I want to see who wins. Oh well.......

Re: Design Star - Season 2

4 left, after this Sunday it will be the final 2 and probably a 2 part finale. One thing I really appreciate about Design Star is the double eliminations. Its quick and brutal and the good ones shine through. Still at this point I see a Todd and Robb finale and hope its Todd but would I really want to watch the show???

Re: Design Star - Season 2

Sorry, I disagree bearcata. I think they are rushing through the season and we are left with 4 really questionable designers. Kim is bland and has skated thru....Robb and Todd are too alike and very raw and Will? Can they pick anyone else? Last season we got to see how they would perform on-air; this season is rushed and a total disappoitmernt

I totally agree. With the double eliminations, this season doesn't give viewers much of a chance to get to know the contenders or see enough of what they can do. The episodes go by so fast that this whole season will be a blur.

As for whoever finally 'wins'... 'win' would be a debatable term, given how the season's been conducted. Of those left now, Will is the only one I'd possibly watch host his own show, but even then I doubt I'd go out of my way to look for it. In fact, of all the contenders from day one, the only ones that I might tune in to watch their own show would have been either Sparkle Josh and/or Will. I think a Sparkle Josh & Will show would have drawn me to watch, because of their chemistry working together. But I wouldn't watch any of the others at all -- either because of an annoying personality or attitude, or because I don't think they're a good designer. And in Surfer Dood's case, I'd only watch him if on episode one, someone like Clive stepped up, shot him, and buried him in that kitty litter piece of crap room he did.

If HGTV has a season 3 of Design Star, and if they do double eliminations again, I doubt I'll bother to even try to catch the shows. Too rushed, too little opportunities for individual designers to show what they can do, too little time to care about any one of them enough to care who wins.

Refresh my memory, weren't there double eliminations last yr?

Re: Design Star - Season 2

I see they have season one on the HGTV site so I checked to see how many episodes until the top 4 and it was by episode 5. Isn't that the same as this one? I could have sworn this is going by much faster with the double eliminations. If it's the same as last time, they'll only eliminate one next time and then 2 more challenges. I liked David so much last time that I find it strange to not really care who wins. I'd be willing to give Will's show a chance if it were him but don't think he has the personality nor does Kim. I don't like either Todd or Robb so if they win, I won't be tuning in.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

I found that you could download (or subscribe) to the first season through itunes by pushing a button on the DesignStar site. So, I did. Yay!

Since I hadn't seen any of the shows except for the finale last season, I sat mesmerized through all the 43 minute episodes. Now I see why David won and why he considers Alice to be such a sweetheart.

What I really enjoyed this season was the hour special leading up to the premiere called, Making of a Design Star, which featured David's time from winning to hosting. It included the auditions for his sidekick - Danielle - who I adored from Design Remix, and a bit of his moving to a new life in San Francisco when Endelmen Productions took on his show.

One thing they did last year at final four which they're not doing this year is an individual design challenge where they transformed studio apartments. At the completion, they all tried out their hosting skills (or lack thereof) for the first time. This year it looks like a group project to renovate Wayne Newton's kitchen. Why? They need to move to separate spaces now, not group stuff. I know, I know...a celeb...wow...underwhelmed. Besides - they already did kitchen remodels when they were at two team strength.

*shaking head*

If you don't have season 1 on disc, subscribe to the podcast - that was a fun season, and I'm sorry, but I do love New York for a setting rather than Las Vegas.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

I'll see you all when tonight's episode airs. I have a feeling it's going to be between Todd and Will for the finale, with Todd winning. He's, at least, easy on the eye.

Re: Design Star - Season 2

Tonight's episode was eye-opening! Who knew that Kim would do such a great job on air? I could actually see myself watching her show (if nothing else is on and I'm sick), which is saying alot more than I could say for the others. Way to go Kim!
