Agreed that Singing Bee is much faster-paced than Don't Forget the Lyrics, and uses professional singers , but this is also one of the cheapest show on TV. The most a contestant can make is $50,000 per episode and in most cases, actually makes a lot less. DFTL contestants can make upto $1 million, I think. So they gotta slow it down and add fillers. NBC has generally been the cheapest of the four networks. Another NBC show, Last Comic Standing, has a prize money of only $250,000 after the entire season. Compare that to CBS' Power of 10, where contestants can win upto $10 million (by guessing, no talent required), and the first contestant won $1 million.
