Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

This is all so awesome. I'm so glad they stayed together. Matt's myspace page was wonderful... his comments about praying before being on the show, etc.

I'm so happy for them.

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

Well it’s the finale of Farmer Wants A Wife. The last time we get to see Brooke and Christa trying to kill each other during glare-contests. The last time we get to hear the cheesy theme song. The last time we get to see Matt shirtless…..someone please break him and the winner up so he can do Farmer 2.

It’s a brand new day and the remaining ladies seem to be sniping at each other from the second they wake up. Brooke believes that she’d make a better farmer’s wife, while Christa is confident that she and Matt have a stronger connection. Matt still claims to be lucky to have these two ladies to choose from. He shows up and has their task for the day-they get to be his wife! Which apparently means that they do all his chores. He gives them each a list of chores, some money, and tells them that he will see them for lunch. Both girls look a little confused at some of the chores, but run off to their trucks.

Christa must pick up a rebuilt carburetor, pay his tab at the general store, pick up some horse feed, and take a deer head to the taxidermist. The carburetor is no problem, but for some reason, while paying his tab, she decides to buy some extra stuff. With Matt’s money. She thinks it’ll be a cute surprise. It’d be a whole lot cuter if you used your own money Christa. She buys Matt The Ugliest Sunglasses Ever and asks for some condoms. The guy running the store claims to not have any, but I think he must have them somewhere, otherwise Portage Des Sioux would have a lot bigger population.

She heads to buy the feed next, and quickly realizes that she has no idea what kind to buy, but eventually settles on feed for pleasure horses. Maybe it’s just me, but on a farm I’d probably pick the option for working horses. Anyway, she manages to get the deer head to the taxidermist even though it creeps both her and me out.

Brooke’s tasks include catching chickens and taking them to Miss Frannie, who will give her two pies in return, picking up some other mechanical part, getting some fish filleted, and buying crickets at the bait store. For some reason she has a little trouble catching chickens (didn’t she do that the first episode?) but she finally gets them to Frannie and also receives a hug along with the pies. Next is her mechanical part and, like Christa with the feed, is lacking information. And each choice is $200. She originally wants to get both and have Matt return one, but when the guy informs her that Matt wouldn’t get all his money back, she makes a blind guess and goes off to get the fish. Finally she makes it to the bait store where the owners laugh at her and make her catch her own crickets. To be perfectly honest, I’d probably do the same thing because it’s obvious what would happen-she let half out and spend ten minutes crawling around the floor trying to catch them.

On her way back, Brooke runs into Christa and they agree they need to get back quickly. For some reason, even though it seems like she’s following Christa, Brooke manages to make a wrong turn and get stuck at a railroad crossing. So Christa gets to present Matt the sunglasses privately. Since she’s obviously so enthusiastic he sweetly pretends to like them, although it’s clear he thinks they are ugly too. While they are waiting for Brooke, she admits that the deer head creeped her out. Matt’s joking around with her, saying he wants a bedspread of skins, and she tells him that he can have one room for his dead animals.

Brooke finally returns and they sit down to lunch that Matt claims he’s made himself. It would probably be a dumb move, but I’d totally call him out on the fact that he’s said multiple times that he can’t cook. He can’t believe he’s sitting at the table with his future wife and announces that each girl will get one final, solo date. Christa’s is later that night and will be more formal, while Brooke’s is in half an hour and is casual.

Brooke freaks out. I don’t blame her, what guy seriously gives a girl only half an hour to get ready for a date? Anyway, she rushes around madly while Christa watches and smirks. She actually gloats that she gets four hours to get ready and will look better than Brooke, but Miss B manages to get ready.

Matt drives them out to a field, and I’d like to point out how cute it is that she has scooted over to the middle of the bench seat. For their date, they are going to ride 4-wheelers because Matt thinks that she is a fun, outdoorsy kind of girl, but Brooke is worried that he only sees her as a friend. Still, they drive around on separately for awhile. They stop for a kiss (Matt’s hanging mostly off his in order to reach her) before she jumps on behind him and they drive up to a little picnic spot.

Matt really wants her to be more open and less reserved around him. After all, it’s the last date they will have before the final decision. She does say that she wants to make him happy when he’s sad, but can’t quite make herself say those three little words. It’s pretty funny-she’s squirming around like a kid who knows they’ve done something bad and not looking Matt in the eyes. Finally she throws her arms around him and buries her head in his shoulder and says in her confessional that she feels like she blew it.

Christa is delighted to hear that Brooke’s date went badly. She’s even happier when Matt shows up in a horse drawn carriage. Brooke and I both think Christa got the better deal. Matt goes inside with the Ugly Sunglasses on and calls Christa ‘princess’. He also kinda leers at Christa while Brooke is standing right behind them, and the two go off. Brooke runs upstairs to watch them through the window, wondering if Christa gets this date because Matt sees her as someone he wants to do something special for.

Driving along they pass the water tower and Matt jokes that he wants to paint the winner’s name there. Christa says “Matt loves Christa” which he quickly replaces with “Matt digs Christa”. They reach their destination and….it’s Matt’s house! (Which is beautiful, I love the wrap around porch) It’s pretty funny, he really does have dead animals everywhere. I remember eating at a restaurant in Baton Rouge years ago, and they had so many heads decorating the walls that I was afraid to eat anything with meat. Christa has that same reaction, especially when there are skins in his bedroom too. She shoots him a look that says “This ALL goes when we’re married!”

They retreat to the porch for dinner, to her relief. Christa admits her worry is about where she’ll find work in the country, and he confesses that his is that she out-fished him, to which she laughs that she’ll let him win next time. They cuddle up on the couch inside after dinner and she puts a ring on her left finger to help him out, and says that she can picture herself in his house as his wife. Maybe without the heads. Then it’s time to leave, but not before they have a serious makeout session on the couch….and in the kitchen…..and on the carriage ride home. Oh, and at the door when he drops her off too. He watches her walk up the stairs through the glass in the door and when he turns around, has a big old grin on his face. He thinks she’s awesome and likes that she says what she thinks. Brooke listens to Christa go on and on about how good the date was and thinks she’s toast.

The next day is elimination. Matt thinks that Christa is sexy and spontaneous, but worries that she has too much country in her. Brooke is a sweet heart and would make a great wife, but she gets tongue tied around him. We get probably our last shirtless Matt shot (aw) while he gets ready.

Back at the house, Brooke and Christa are getting dressed too. Although she thinks Christa has won, Brooke is determined to look her best. Christa tries to paint her nails, but her hands are shaking so much that she abandons it and they pull out a wine bottle. They share a toast, but it’s the kind of toast that’s like “Good luck…but I really hope you die.”

While they are sitting there, they hear music playing and go to the window to see….a live band followed by the whole town. It immediately ramps up the pressure. Matt thinks that since the whole town has been involved, and will also have to deal with the winner (because everyone who goes on one of these shows gets married) that they should get to see his final decision. He comes inside to get them and tells them that this is the last night in the house for both girls-one will be going back to the city and one will be going back to his house. Wonder how Miss B the Virgin feels about that?

The three go outside arm in arm and step up onto the stage, which has a sign that says Farmer TAKES a Wife. They must’ve changed the name at some point. He says it’s the toughest decision of his life. Brooke has shown she can win challenge and always makes him smile. Christa puts him on the spot, that he hasn’t met any girls with her spunk, and that she’s ready to do it at anytime. The town laughs and he corrects himself by saying she’s always ready to have fun, but by the look on her face, he was right the first time.

He tells everyone that, keeping with the theme of eliminations so far, a crop duster will fly over with the winner’s name on it. Brooke starts crying, Christa is fidgeting, and one funny old man yells “Look over yonder!”

The plane finally comes into view and says….. Matt hearts Brooke. She runs over and jumps into his arms and even though Christa is crying, she tries to be a good sport. Matt says he won’t ever forget her and he learned more from her than anyone else, but he just had a stronger bond with Brooke. Brooke comes to give her a hug and Christa manages to not claw her eyes out before she goes inside to pack.

Matt tells Brooke that he had a connection with Christa, but he only felt love for Brooke. The townfolk throw confetti everywhere and the band starts playing again as the couple jumps on a tractor and drives off into the sunset. As a montage of the show plays, Matt says that Miss B (yes, he still calls her that) didn’t have to completely open up and express her feelings, he knew what she felt and he knew that she was the one. Brooke says she doesn’t let her guard down often but she really fell in love.

Well now that the show is over, there’s only one thing left to do….place bets on how long they’ll last.

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

This is a comment that his sister Janaee left him on his myspace page, I just love it and I really do hope they stay together.

I couldn’t be more excited to give up my first place spot to Miss B! I am not only super happy for you both but am also very proud to have you as a brother and friend. Thank you for being a class act, standing true to your morals and showing much respect (qualities that are seriously lacking in society these days). Thank you also for standing true to your faith and showing that through God anything is
possible! I welcome Miss B to Missouri (FINALLY!) and can’t wait for the great memories that are sure to be made in the near future!

Also, for all of you who have posted comments and sent messages
to Matthew (and myself) THANK YOU!!! I personally have appreciated (and I know Matt has as well) your thoughtfulness.
May God bless you all with much love and happiness throughout your journey!
