Christa is just mean. I think Amanda deserved to win the talent competition if you're judging talent alone; however, Brooke has a way of winning over the folks so I wasn't surprised she won.

I wish I could like Amanda again. She was my favorite at first, especially after the dinner with the parents but I just can't get past the fact that she was so awful when with the other two - Ashley and Christa. If she can act that way, not just once, but several times then something is just off. JMO
I agree. I liked Amanda early on too but then didn't like her so much. I think it will be a Brooke/Amanda finale. I do favor Brooke, will be glad when Christa is gone. I too am just watching for entertainment. I doubt they are still together. The darn show was filmed LAST July wasn't it? I thought the poster that started this thread saw them in the airport last year. And the fair flyer had a date of July 2007 on it. That's almost a year ago.

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

So I just watched an interview with Matt. He calls Amanda "a doll," Brooke "a sweetheart," Christa "real" (?!) and "a rocker," and KJ "wow, very flirtatious, very sexy." So going by that what do you all think? I remember he called Amanda a doll after their first date, and I think I heard him call Brooke "sweetie" at the end of their date.

Interesting - he calls Stephanie "hot." I heard from another board that he still keeps in touch with her.

So I don't think our Matt would be adverse to settling down with someone who isn't the perfect farmer's wife!

Will need to go back and take a look, because I cannot remember what Stephanie looked like.

And I'm sorry...but KJ is not an attractive woman, IMO. And she talks like a little girl.

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

So last week we saw Lisa go home and Ashley pretty much guarantee her own ouster in a future episode by making crude comments. This week will be a talent show and a bonfire, with both looking to have disasterous consequences.

As this week’s episode opens, the girls are sitting in the living room talking about how there are only five left. It’s pretty cliché-they are all looking forward to it being just them and Matt….well, except for Ashley, who is sad that she had a bad date and declares that she’s ready for some F-U-N! She’s in luck, as Matt’s sent over a bunch of ladies led by Miss. Jen to treat the girls to a spa day. Kanisha coos over Matt’s thoughtfulness at setting this all up. Her baby voice makes me think she’s actually serious in that belief, but can anybody really be that naïve?

Anyway, they all gossip with their hairdressers and fear that they will soon be sporting the sideways ponytail of the local ladies, but luckily that is not the case. Matt comes over to view the results and drop this week’s challenge: a talent contest! He’s even brought props, although they’re of the hula hoops and baton type. Ashley calls this her worst fear and declares that she’d rather put her head in an oven and turn in on than participate in a talent contest.

Brooke immediately dons a cheesy costume and starts clowning around with the baton. Kanisha snags the hula hoop and for all her fears, Ashley knows my favorite joke! “A man walks into a bar. Ouch!” I think you have to have a certain type of humor to appreciate it. The I-drink-way-too-much-tequila-at-times kind of humor. Amanda decides to sing the national anthem and Brooke abandons the baton in favor of teaching line dancing. I guess that could be considered a talent? Christa of course mocks the choice but publicly encourages Brooke, thinking that the choice will be disastrous. They all come together to plan a group finale, but it seems Kanisha is overthinking it, and eventually gets into an argument with Brooke. Like her fight with Josie the first week, I’m not really sure what this one is about, but KJ ends up storming upstairs to pack her bags, declaring that she’s had enough.

For some reason, the rest of the girls follow her and convince her to stay on. They all congratulate her for sticking it through and I’m just kind of confused.

Matt returns to pick them up and even manages to keep a straight face as he surveys their costumes. He even throws in an “I’m digging it,” and they head off to the contest. Christa is up first, and sings “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”. For some reason, she starts it in a really strange voice accompanied by spastic movements, but ends it normally and with what turns out to be a pretty good voice. Ashley is up next. She tells her bar joke, and I guess these aren’t tequila drinkers, so it falls flat. So she goes into a magic segment, which includes one of the other girls throwing powder into the air and Ashley running behind the others. She probably should have left the stage after the joke. Matt is completely confused.

Kanisha does a little hula hoop routine that is over in about 2 seconds and which doesn’t impress Matt. Amanda sings, and Brooke pulls some of the town folk up to learn the Electric Slide. Christa reiterates that Brooke is trying to kiss ass, and the ladies wrap up with a version of Old McDonald that they’ve rewritten. The town votes on their favorite and predictably, Christa is furious when Brooke wins again. Matt thinks she won the town’s heart.

Before he leaves them for the night, Matt must again answer the question of if he’s ready to get married. I’ve got to give it to him, he comes up with a new variation on the answer every week-this week he says that he wants someone to spoil and be responsible for, and Amanda swoons.

The next day, Matt shows up in a school bus to pick up the girls for a hog roast, another tradition that puzzles them but that I loved growing up. Once more, though, he’s brought Brooke a present for winning the challenge, a sweet looking pair of boots. Matt’s buddy Jason (the saint who put up with taking Josie home) is the one responsible for cooking the pig, a whole monster on a spit. Ashley is visibly disgusted by the sight of a whole pig, and for some reason Kanisha asks if they will be eating the pig’s ear. No, Matt tells her, they give that part to the dogs.

KJ’s really playing up the dumb card this episode-when Jason starts the fire going, she asks how long a “bongfire” lasts, and later actually takes a nibble out of the pigs ear. Amanda buries her face in Matt’s shoulder laughing at that. They make smores, and when Christa licks a piece off of Matt, he observes that she’s very flirty and that makes it hard to be a gentleman. Then comes the clip with Ashley asking during Truth or Dare if she’s going home. Matt diplomatically claims to have two people in mind and in turn asks if she still wants to be there. Her answer of yes makes Matt think that the game helped him get to know her better. Before they leave, Brooke bugs him about whether or not she’s going to get a date. At home, Ashley decides to do some packing, and the others assume that Brooke will get the one on one this week.

The next day is the elimination, and unfortunately for them, most of the girls are all dolled up. I say unfortunately because what follows is possibly the most disgusting elimination ever. They (minus Brooke, who gets looks of absolute hatred) must preg-check cows. For those who don’t know what this is, the girls must reach up inside the cows to check and see if they are pregnant. The one whose cow isn’t is going home. I don’t know about you, but I’d flatly refuse to do this if I thought I had a chance of going home.

The four ladies gamely go in, although one does ask if the cows can just pee on sticks. Kanisha is making the funniest faces and sounds, while Matt and Brooke try not to laugh too hard. Eventually Ashley is revealed to be going home, and Matt says he doesn’t think they had a connection even though she’s a good sport. He also thinks that in her mind, she left a few days before. In another non-shocker, Brooke finally gets her date.

Ashley leaves in a pretty classy way-she toasts the ladies and wishes them luck, and says that she’s looking forward to having a Cosmo back home. Christa actually cries about her leaving.
For their date, Matt takes Brooke to the lake where they zoom around in a little motor boat for awhile before stopping for drinks. She admits that she’s nervous around him, but Matt thinks she’s charming him to death. They actually discuss how many children they’d like to have and finally get around to kissing. Now either they make out for a long time or CW loops the footage, but he kisses her again when he drops her off and leans his forehead against hers, telling her that he had a good time.

The girls all grill her of course, and wisely Brooke doesn’t tell them everything, but for some reason the girls dismiss the report that Brooke and Matt kissed. Christa snarks that Brooke is like a puppy fawning over Matt and Kanisha and Amanda claim to not be threatened by her.

Next week the ladies manage to sink a boat and Matt has a surprise (family visits perhaps?). Also, his family grills the girls and guns play a role in elimination….possibly a very bad idea.

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

Haven't seen the episode, but if the recap is correct, it is a new low in reality TV. The cow testing was pointless since they are already know who is going home (same with every other elimination--did the producers ever realize how stupid this was???) I am disappointed that Ashley didn't draw the line at this level of humiliation and that no one stood up for the ethical treatment of the animals. If a vet needs to do this for a legitamate reason, fine. if not, it seems abusive and disgusting. someone call PETA!!!

Sea, while I grew up around animals & have seen this type of check done, no one but the vet, a tech or the owner of the animal did the check. I have to agree...it's gross!

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

Gotta correct myself...just spoke to my sister and she has in fact felt the baby calf growing inside it's mama. She says it's an amazing thing once you get past the ickness aspect.

Re: Farmer Wants a Wife

Ok, so I think that Miss B. wins the Farmer.
If you go onto her Myspace, which is private, she has that she is "Brooke is just trying to get through the next few weeks til I can be home for my sister's wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

and also... " "I LUUUUV I LUV I LUV I LUUUUVVVVV .... THIS PERSON!"
"

Where Amanda's says," "I knew what M farms!!! Oh Editing..."

So I think he chose Brooke, and I agree, I can't believe that this happened back last summer, I would not have been too thrilled to wait for my man while he was in Vegas and playing it up with Playmate Chicks ( see his myspace profile )
