No, actually they don't. When you fill out the registration form there are several boxes to check off if you want to subscribe or receive info from different things. I leave the boxes blank. I only get one daily e-mail reminder to enter each day for as long as the contest runs, which is a good thing because I would forget. You get 2 chances daily...one at hgtv.com and the other at frontdoor.com

I've entered before (not like I'll ever win) and get the occasional email, but they don't spam you.

Hey waywryd, like my dad always says (about buying lottery tickets), you gotta be in in to win it. There's always hope.

Lake Tahoe, huh? Maybe this is the year I enter. I haven't checked but don't they usually do the "story" on NYDay after the Rose Parade?

Not sure when they are airing the special but you can take a virtual tour on HGTV.com. The contest runs through mid-February. Virtual Online Tour of HGTV Dream Home 2014 Now Live at HGTV.com - Yahoo Finance

I found it on New Year's Day around 3 PM. I say "around" because while their commercial for Rose Parade coverage states it will start in the west at 8 AM, the Guide schedule has it for 11 AM (east coast time.)

Yay, I love their coverage of the Rose Parade! I entered the Dream House thing again, but that is WAY more house than I could ever put to use. Pretty, though.

I need to stay off HGTV's website. I keep finding more projects to add to my list.

As one who resides on the East coast I'd never be able to get to Lake Tahoe often enough if I should ever be so lucky to win it. I'd definitely take the cash payment instead. It's airing in NYC area at 8 pm Eastern time tonight.

OMG! I saw the dream house yesterday! LOVE IT. It's near this neat little town called Truck, CA. Made me want to move there. My mom saw it and said she and some other family members would move with me! What a dream. Just pack a bag, sale the rest and move into this beautiful home in the middle of paradise! Plus, you get a new SUV and $250,000.00! What a DREAM!

I'm entering now. If I win, I will come back here and report it! lol

    Re: HGTV Shows

Driving from the bay area, Truckee is off the interstate on the left side and the road to Tahoe is off to the right of the freeway. It's not too far from where the Donner wagon train had problems with the heavy snow. Of course, CA has been so dry this year, who knows if they'll even get snow this winter. I had friends with a cabin (small) on the lake and loved it there in the summer. Of course, the Nevada side of the lake isn't that far away and there are casinos if you like that sort of thing.

It is a gorgeous house, but those high ceilings and all that glass have me wondering about heating/cooling. I confess I haven't watched the whole show yet and they may have answered that question.
