Alice's picture is absolutely amazing. The body language, the face, the everything--it looks like a true model. Steph looks like she's pretending to be a woman, but really just comes off looking juvenile. Jordan's face is completely off, and she's the shortest (right?). Alice needs to win, period.

Model Alice Burdeu defends her "naturally thin" look
Fashion experts say Burdeu's lean look is desirable
Show criticised for not encouraging a healthier look

SHE'S been the central figure in the ongoing skinny debate, but Australia's Next Top Model contender Alice Burdeu has been given the big fat thumbs up from judges and viewers of the series.

Producers of the Fox 8 reality show have been criticised for not enforcing stricter measures on Burdeu's slim situation, but the willowy redhead surged ahead in the contest last night when she was named as one of the two remaining finalists.

While Burdeu is the favourite to take out the catwalk crown over Stephanie Hart next Tuesday, the 19-year-old said she thought the backlash over her waif-like shape would work against her in the poll.

"Can you imagine reading that you look like you're from a concentration camp?" Burdeu said, referring to a concerned viewer's comment.

Hitting back at claims she suffered from an eating disorder, the 58kg, 185cm tall glamour girl said she had always been naturally thin.

"People can think what they want but I'm happy with the way I am," Burdeu said.

"My family and friends know that Idon't have a problem - if anything I eat too much chocolate."

While fashion experts say Burdeu's lean look would be a hot hit in the cut-throat fashion markets of Milan and Paris, the teen's gaunt appearance drew concern from series host Jodhi Meares and special guest star Ian Thorpe - both encouraging her to gain weight.

But when asked if she had gained any kilos, Burdeu said that she wasn't sure as she didn't own a set of scales.

Hart also weighed in on the debate yesterday, saying Burdeu "eats more than me, I can tell you".

I'm so proud of Alice for bitching out at Steph and Jordan. Steph is so irritating. She first says she ignores cultures of other countries and that it shouldn't be a big deal because she's always been in Australia. That's exactly what stupidity is--not being able to embrace anything other than what you are. Then she says she asks extremely dumb questions, and after she's explained her case she says that she doesn't even think the questions are dumb. She's just so irritating.

Canada's Next Top Model (Citytv, 8 tonight) returns for a second season – sorry, cycle – with Jay Manuel as host and executive producer.

But enough about that metallic-haired fashionista. Really, enough. Manuel's gotten enough press to sustain the show well into Cycle 53.

No, this dispatch required something different, something investigative.

So to handicap the 10 new contestants, I consulted psychics, lurked in chatrooms, scrutinized thousands of pictures, performed background checks, analyzed secretly obtained audition footage and, oh yeah, studied interview segments from Star! Daily.

Then I poured myself a martini and thanked God my wife never reads this dispatch.

CNTM just started!!!! I'm watching it in Vancouver on the toronto station. The big suprise is there were 20 girls not 10 and 10 got cut down to the 10 we know. there was a girl from New Brunswick with braces, and an asian girl who wasn't overly cute...
