Ylenia's farewell interview

Ylenia is the latest lovely lady to get kicked off Canada’s Next Top Model. The day after her booting was aired on television, she answered some questions about her experience:

Were there any moments in the show that made you either cringe with embarrassment or made you feel proud of yourself? What were they?

I don't think that there were any moments that embarrassed me, but I did feel a bit uncomfortable watching the topless photo shoot with friends and family. Other than that, I think I handle myself pretty well...and I was very proud with the way my pasta turned out! (I'm just kidding). I think I was satisfied with the way my photos tuned out, but that was also thanks to all the professionals that guided me through the photo shoots.

2. What would you have done differently if you had the chance to do it all again? What do you think you could have changed that would have kept you on the show longer?

I think I showed too much insecurity towards my body and I that worried. If I could go back and change something, I would probably try to be a little more confident about that.

4. What was the most difficult part of being on the show?

Before starting the show I thought that having cameras following me around was not going to be a big deal, but once we started shooting I felt a lot of pressure and not being able to have my own space and privacy was very difficult to deal with.

5. What was the best part about being on the series?

The best part was sharing this unique experience with nine wonderful girls from across Canada. We were able to bond and have a wonderful time in spite of the competition!

6. What made you want to audition in the first place and what is it about modeling that attracts you?

Modelling has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, but the lack of opportunities never allowed me to pursue it. When I found out about the show I thought it was a great opportunity to launch myself into the industry.

7. What will you do now that you're out of the competition?

I feel like I've just gone through the best possible training I could ever ask for and now I just can't wait to start modelling and hopefully be very busy in the upcoming months. 8. Who would you love to see win the whole thing? Why?

I honestly believe that all four girls remaining have something unique about them that would make them a great model. So I'll be very happy for whoever wins. 9. Who don't you want to win? Why?

No one in particular. 10. What was the most annoying thing about living in a house full of competitors?

Reminding myself that this was a competition and even though I wanted to bond with the girls more, I needed to remember that even though I wanted to win really badly, there were nine other girls that wanted it to.
----------------------------
Judge Stacey McKenzie also answered some questions about Ylenia’s demise:

1. What should the cast-off have done differently that might have prevented her from getting kicked off the show?

Ylenia did'nt have to do anything differently, she is in a league of her own. She has the potential to be a Celebrity Supermodel, there is so much of the fashion industry that she can work, Victoria Secrets, Loreal ads and off to the movies!.

2. Did the judges fight about who they thought should go each week?

There is always drama with us on the panel!

3. What are your words of warning and words of advice for whoever wins the competition in the end?

My major advice for the winner of this competition is, do not get comfortable, there is hard work ahead of you, you won the competition ,yes, but you have to work at keeping your career going for as long as possible, because it's a short lived career. It's very important for you to have a backup plan with this career, so make the best of your win, use it as a stepping stone for other areas of the business/beyond. My words of warning to the winner, do not get caught up with all the hoopla that comes along in the business, always stay true to yourself. Don't feel the need to be what they want you to be.

4. If you were trying to convince people to watch the rest of the season, what would you say as a teaser of what they absolutely don't want to miss?

There is a lot more drama coming your way guys, and of course you have to watch to see who's going to be Canada's Next Top Model 5. What's your advice for young girls who dream about entering the modeling world?

My advice for young aspiring models is, go for it and go for it all the way, don't give up on it,you will come across a lot of obstacles, don't take it personally, don't give up until you find the one person that will say "yes I want that girl/guy". There is room for everyone in this business so if you cannot get in the high fashion side of it, try the commercial side of it, there is even body parts models(legs for shoes, hair for hair products etc.). If your under the age of 18 or just feel you are not strong enough to deal with all the critiquing and put downs ( there is some harsh people out there, believe me) , find the one person, your confident, chaperone, to have by your side on your way to making this dream come true. If you don't have someone, feel free to email me at www.staceymckenzie.com .

This from Andrea's blog : Entry for July 05, 2006
Yoga Day…
Today we had another challenge and again I have lost at it. I wish to God that if He is actually keeping me on this show then maybe I could at least win one challenge. There has been many times during these challenges when others and I strongly agree that I should have won. I never win anything so this is really starting to bother me emotionally!

Photo Shoot Day,,,
Today was a very hard photo shoot for me as I feel I didn’t get the usual feedback from the photographer and Sima. I tried really hard the whole time through. I was the first one to go up for my photo shoot and then, unusually enough, I was sent home early otherwise I would have had to wait forever for the other girls who had yet to have their photographs done. When I got home Stacey Mackenzie was in the house and had a nice platter of snacks made up for me. We practiced runway for a long time and then hung out for a while. I made her a cool supper that I like, though I doubt she did though – LOL. Anyway, I really hope that Stacey saw the good in me rather than my negative side.

Elimination Day…
Today at judging I was told that my energy level has dropped and Tricia has made the comment that it may be due to weight and perhaps I should eat some more. She is not right at all. I eat all of the time, but it just so happens that the cameras only tape me at night or during a shoot/challenge and see me in action, not eating. If you want to see me eat then set a camera in front of my face! LOL! Anyways, when I get home what I am going to do is get enrolled in a local fitness club and gain weight the right way. Right now is really hard as I don’t have the knowledge or the equipment I need in order to pull off any successful weight gain.

okay like i just realized something. ALMOST EVERYTIME theres a photoshoot or challenge, they -ALWAYS- give Ylenia the hardest thing to work with. the first photoshoot, they gave her that dress. i forgot about the second one. during the runway, they gave her like the funky dress and made her worry it would flip out. they also gave her that reallly tight dress and it was obvious the other girls didnt have that hard of a dress to work with. After that, Tricia kept poking and poking at Ylenia's hips and just made her lose her self confidence as she said herself. then tricia goes this week and says someting like "her energy is fading" like NO DUH she's the one that keeps like slamming her down. i dont see them eliminating sisi because of her lazy eye. like seriously! gosh its like she wants to get rid of her so much

uhhh they don't get rid of Sisi because she's given an awesome picture every week. And you should know by now the judges always contradict themselves like that. Like telling Britney to calm down in cycle 3 and then when she does, they boot her out for having lost her 'sparkle' because she was acting more serious. And it wasn't just Tricia that kept picking out her flaws.

I totally agree with Wisperan. I mean, it's so true, I did see my face breaking out a bit, but they made it sound like I was going through puberty again.I really never noticed a "lazy eye" on Sisi, even if they said something about it, I never knoticed it either.Ylenia's hips...I didn't understand why they where telling her about that because it wasn't a big flaw. Natalie wasn't what they said " big boned" or "fat" or whatever they said, she wasn't at all. This is something that reminds me of Cycle 6 of ANTM, They told Kathy and Danielle that they couldn't have there Southern accents and they kept telling Danielle that she needed to work on it, but they never told Nnenna to work on her Nigerian accent what so ever. They told both Joanie and Danielle ( especially Danielle) to get her teeth fixed, but in Cycle 4, they never even made a big deal about Brani's as far as I know.

the judges were talking about YOUR face? Why do you keep claiming to be Alanna? I'm sorry but from your past comments on the forum, you sure don't sound like you were a contestant on CNTM and I checked a cache of this forum from back in May/June...and you said that you were from Prince Rupert, not Kelowna. I don't mean to be mean or anything but if you're going to claim to be someone on national tv then maybe you should have some credibility and proof first. This is not intended as an attack on you...but if you really are who you claim to be, then maybe give some proof since this IS the world wide net. Like Joanie or Lisa has done in their myspaces...photo of themselves with their username written on a sheet of paper~

oh, and if you look at the high quality make-over photo of Alanna, you'll see that her complexion isn't that smooth. But then again, I don't really like Sisi's complexion either cause it's really uneven toned. But uneven tone can be fixed with foundation easier than blemishes can which usually needs more re-touching than anything else~ Alanna should really listen and quit the whole lip rubbing thing too...she's already got tiny lips so it doesn't help to keep hiding them either.

Hope she goes next week~

Natalie's hips were kind of wide though...even she admitted it. and Ylenia's hips were wide as well and they were spot on about how gaunt her bone structure made her look if she lost weight in her face. just look at Ylenia's car picture. she does look wide in it.

Nnenna's accent was graceful. you could understand what she was saying and it didn't sound awkward. and i'm sure if Brandy had made it further then she did they would have brought up the gap because they didn't bring it up for Danielle til later on in the season.

and ummm...you're not Alanna......???????? but pimples are a big deal if you want to be a model. especially for girls, they need flawless skin in this industry.

The reason why I had my Profile on "Prince George" and my profile was all that different was because I knew that no one would believe me, even if I had all that stuff on there or not, so I just changed my profile to look like just another fan. I grew tired of it, and yes, it was the most worst time to come out - in the middle of everything - Big mistake and a big mistake before.I don't ask everyone to believe me because I know that not a lot of people will.So if you really don't want to believe me, that's your opinion and I can't stop you.
