Re: Canada's Next Top Model

I feel as though Andrea's remark concerning Jeanne was extremely naive and idiotic. Ugh, what a disappointment.

Back when Andrea said she was quitting to become a dental hygienist I'd heard it was because she was so hated in the Canadian fashion world but I think it's probably because of both Jeanne and the fact that her behaviour won her few fans during the show.
I think that's what caused her to quit so early in the game. But I feel that even so, she would have stayed in fashion for no more than a year, because she couldn't handle the business. Andrea won this not necessarily because she wanted to, but because she wanted to show people she could. She's extremely immature IMO, and in no way deserved to win. (I'm still bitter, can you tell?) Gosh, Sisi was SOOO much better.

So yes actually, it does matter what image is being portrayed. You can do a challenge and still have it relate to the fashion industry. On ANTM when they did the beach volleyball challenge they actually got a beach volleyball player who was also a model to talk about sports and commercial modelling. The CNTM challenge was very little in the same vein. They could have done runway on ice or just trying to pose on skates (which they did briefly) and that would have been fine. But F.Y.I. Jeanne has to give hundreds of interviews as well as conduct them every year and has done so for like over twenty years. After every major fashion show she covers press from around the world interview her and other fashion industry luminaries as to what their take on the collection was. She can instruct the girls on what she as an interviewer wants and needs from them, and what they should withold that interviewers might try to trick out of them. No cast member of Degrassi gives more interviews than Jeanne Becker and that is just that. None of them would have one one hundredth of the relevant information that Jeanne could give. Maybe there are some people who might think a photoshoot with a moose or living in an igloo would be cute. I'm certainly not one of them. And I still say I'd rather have my CNTM without the hockey and Degrassi influence. If I want to see that I can watch CBC. Give me real fashion industry advice and relevance and challenges and photoshoots over one dimensional cutesy and irrelevant Canadiana stereotyping any day.
I have heard nothing about CNTM showing in the US. They didn't air the first season nor have they aired other NTM shows in the US (apart from an aborted showing of the first season of AUSNTM on VH1). So, no, I don't know that CNTM will be airing in the US. And, even if it does, I doubt most educated Americans would base their whole opinion on Canada and Canadians on what the saw on CNTM. I don't base my opinion of Americans on what I've seen on ANTM or Big Brother or whatever. Even if they do, so what? Not a big deal. I do get your point about the challenges being more directly related to fashion and fair enough. But not all of the challenges on other NTMs have been strictly fashion-related. I'm not going to go through them all (I'm sure I can't remember them) but, for example, on season 2 of AUSNTM they had to go hiking and camping in the bush and Simone won the challenge as she did the best at that task. That had nothing to do with fashion. Fair point, too, about Jeanne Beker, though I maintain the Degrassi actor/actress could be of benefit to the models-to-be (certainly more so than, say, April was last season on ANTM).
Interesting article about Andrea.

She actually blames Jeanne for ruining her career?? What an ungrateful wretch they practically set the entire competition for her to win and she never deserved it. GRRR SISI got robbed by the copying hack.

She truly makes me angry.
There are few people more idiotic in this world than Andrea.
That video was incredibly immature.

I'll say it one more tmme: Sisi was robbed.

I feel ashamed that the worst winner in Top Model history comes from Canada.

I liked Andrea, she was adorable but she just seemed to fly by in eliminations and miraculously avoid the bottom 2, would you really have wanted Allana to win

Re: Canada's Next Top Model

Is "None of the above" an answer choice? lol, Sisi and Ylenia were miles better. The first three girls eliminated were all robbed!
