What I mean is that they didn't make the program with the idea in mind that Americans would be viewing it). Secondly, there is nothing wrong with hockey or Degrassi or any of that. They are part of Canadian culture and they are in no way inherently embarassing or stupid. They only become so when someone makes them so, labelling them as dumb or lame, or viewing them as such. (What do sports specifically have to do with fasion? Probably very little, though there have been sports-themed fashion shoots before. But few challenges on CNTM deal specifically with fashion [the same holds true with challenges on other NTM programs, at least in the programs I have seen]. They're just a way to stretch out the program. And they're a way to see who responds enthusiastically to challenges, as opposed to grumbling). Thirdly, I'm sure the actors on Degrassi have had extensive experiences with the media, giving interviews and such, not only to Canadian press but to American press as well (as the show does air, quite sucessfully, in the US). Jeannie Beker, on the other hand, conducts interviews - she does not give them. She does not know what it is like to be on the receiving end of the media's questions, whereas the Degrassi actor does. So I'm sure s/he will be able to give some good insights to the models-to-be.

As for Mo - didn't Yasmin point out that she was quite short? I seem to recall her doing so at last panel. I do like her smile. Gina is more of a commercial model but I think she could do quite successfully in that field (and I have argued elsewhere about how commercial modelling is a legitimate - and lucrative - field). I don't know about winning the CNTM title, though; I don't think she has a chance of getting that. I feel I'm being force-fed Rebecca's "specialness;" she holds no appeal. I still think Sinead or Cori have the best chances of winning, with Sinead in front. (I remember reading an article before CNTM aired wherein the writer gave odds on the various contestants. He picked Sinead as the winner and, at the time, I didn't really agree with him. But her haircut - such a little thing - has literally been transforming and I think she is doing very well. And she seems nice, too, which makes me like her even more).

Ummmm firstly, yes CNTM WILL be shown in the U.S. on television and season 2 of CNTM was sold to 17 other countries including the U.S. BEFORE it even started auditioning contestants. So yes actually, it does matter what image is being portrayed. You can do a challenge and still have it relate to the fashion industry. On ANTM when they did the beach volleyball challenge they actually got a beach volleyball player who was also a model to talk about sports and commercial modelling. The CNTM challenge was very little in the same vein. They could have done runway on ice or just trying to pose on skates (which they did briefly) and that would have been fine. But F.Y.I. Jeanne has to give hundreds of interviews as well as conduct them every year and has done so for like over twenty years. After every major fashion show she covers press from around the world interview her and other fashion industry luminaries as to what their take on the collection was. She can instruct the girls on what she as an interviewer wants and needs from them, and what they should withold that interviewers might try to trick out of them. No cast member of Degrassi gives more interviews than Jeanne Becker and that is just that. None of them would have one one hundredth of the relevant information that Jeanne could give. Maybe there are some people who might think a photoshoot with a moose or living in an igloo would be cute. I'm certainly not one of them. And I still say I'd rather have my CNTM without the hockey and Degrassi influence. If I want to see that I can watch CBC. Give me real fashion industry advice and relevance and challenges and photoshoots over one dimensional cutesy and irrelevant Canadiana stereotyping any day.

Oh wow really, cool, please direct me to what channels they show CNTM on in the U.S. because I have every cable station available and I have not come across it ever, but would LOVE to watch it.

They don't show the Top Models on cable tv in other countries until like a year after they air in their respective country. EG. CNTM 1 is only airing now in the UK, AusNTM3 won't air in Canada until next summer. So I'm pretty sure it'll be on VH1 but not until next summer at the earliest.

Sweet, I would love to watch these, I come here to read up on it all and thankfully someone always posts the pictures, so I can't wait until I can actually watch the show too.

Re: Canada's Next Top Model

Finally watched episode 3 so I think I've formed my final opinions on the girls, which have changed a lot since preshow:

1. Tara: love love love her, which is funny because I didn't really like her much preshow
2. Sinead: She was a fav preshow and still is.

... now there's a big gap after those two

3. Cori: I didn't like her at all preshow, but she's growing on me. Not crazy about her, but she's cute.
4. Tia: She's getting so annoying, but she was one of my preshow favs so I hope she can step up a little.
5. Rebecca: She was another preshow favorite, but I'm really not feeling the makeover. Her face shape isn't working for me and the fact that she doesn't have a chin bothers me.
6. Mo: She has a cute smile and she was another preshow fav, but honestly I haven't really liked anything she's done so far.
7. Gina: I think she's maxed out her potential and I honestly don't see her getting much better. I don't think she's necessarily been doing the worst, I just think she has the least potential.

And yay, I'm glad they're going to show CNTM in the US. Guess it doesn't matter much since I'm watching on youtube anyways, but it's always nice to see it on tv.

Re: Canada's Next Top Model

i think Gina is my favorite, i like her look but i think the only picture i like of her is her pre show photo, she looked stunning in that. her makeover shot was also great.

and to whoever said that it seems like we're being "force fed" rebecca's "specialness" ...i totally agree, which makes me worry that she's going to go far.

i like Tara in photos, personality sucks. same thing with Tia who seems like she's gonna have a huge ego after this. i like Mo and Sinead too. i'm not so sure about Cori though i did really like her beauty shot. all in all it's a fun season but i'm STILL mad they kicked off Jacqueline!!

Sweet! I hope it doesn't get cancelled like AusNTM. I wish they would air AusNTM 2 and 3.

There should just be a 24/7 Top Model channel, with subtitles for the foreign ones. I would never leave my house!

I live on the west coast here in the U.S., and people here always talk about the show before it airs here. How can you blame them? People want to talk about some of their favorite shows.

Just do what I do: don't go in a thread before the show airs in the west coast.

My advice would be to not come onto FORT and read the posts until after you've watched the episode. I'm in Vancouver so I can imagine how frustrating that would be, but it's easily avoided. That or do like me and order the package where you get all the CityTV's from across the country then you get to watch CNTM at 5pm! Then again at 7pm then again if you want at 8pm lol

TopModelFan1, I totally agree, although it should be an all Top Model/Project Runway/Top Design/Janice Dickinson Modelling Agency chanel. Now THAT would be FIERCE!
