Is Yves St. Laurent a model? Is Karl Lagerfeld a model? In other words...does it matter? I don't have a problem with Mr. J hosting. It's not like he doesn't know the industry.
This season has improved in so many ways over last season. What I can't figure out is it seems that, based on low volume in this thread, viewers are way down. Why?

most people who book models are gay, non-modeling men. they are probably the best judge of a woman's beauty...and most of the designers? gay non-modeling men.

yah I don't see a problem with Jay hosting either. He can't relate and say that he's experienced this and that but he's been working close enough to models to be able to know what they go through.

I'm just wondering what they're going to do with those one-on-one type sessions...probably get a female model to do the talk with them...like Stacey or something~ But Jay seems to have a very nurturing side too so I can see him having talks with the girls too~

Second, why is it I didn't know there was a Canada's Next Top Model thread all of its own??? LOL So far I've only been posting (a lot) in the Top Models outside the US thread, so I'm glad I found this one too

I totally agree! The photoshoot bordered on soft porn. It was icky watching the male models grabbing and putting their mouths near their breasts. There have been nude shoots on ANTM, but those have been a lot more tasteful than this. I was shocked by all the grabbing and touching.

When the contestants bios first came out for Mika and sinead it said "unemployed" then in later releases it said "job hunting now" and then finally Mika was "travel representative" and Sinead was "call centre agent" which her local newspaper confirms she was hired fairly recently, post filming wrap up so she must not win because if you'd just won $100,000 and were "Canada's Next Top Model" would you take some crumby call centre gig?

Yes, if you needed the money to tide you over between winning and actually getting the cash. And a call centre job is a relatively easy job to get and an easy job to quit.

I finally was able to watch this episode and I was a little underwhelmed with the show. Granted, this is the first time I've watched Canada's Next Top Model, so I don't have the other season to compare it to. It will never hold a candle to Australia's Next Top Model, but if it stops trying to copy the American version, it can be much better. I was pleasantly surprised at how good Jay was as a host, though. I did not like the photoshoot--it was not tasteful or sensual, it was soft porn. I just hope the photoshoots are better than the American version. The girls are pretty good and I do see more potential models than anything the American version has dug up. My favorites were Mo, Rebecca, Jacqueline, and sort of Tia. I am so-so on Sinead. Steff needs to go back to the mall and Mika, while pretty, does not live up to that high opinion she holds of herself. I didn't think she was the worst this week, though. Mo and Steff both had the worst pictures, but I think Steff should have gone. At first I thought Rebecca was too plain, but she really made me go, "wow!" when I saw her photo. I have started to like her. I also liked that when I saw her makeover, she looked like Jess from AusNTM2 :-)

This may be a stupid question, but is that Stacey really a biological woman or trangendered?

Hmmm. Well, I wouldn't think they would immediately get the money--maybe for example, until they are announced publicly as the winner or whatever, so maybe just to get some cash to make ends meet she would take that job.

She is a biological woman. I've always thought she was very freaky looking model but I do love her as a person!

As for the photoshoot, I liked Cori, Rebecca and Sinead (top half only). Hated Mo and Steffs. The rest I thought were not done tastefully enough (too softcore for me).

I really like Jay as a host but man, does he have to imitate Tyra exactly. Can't stand the repetition "10 girls stand be for me. Only 9 will continue blah, blah, blah" (always fast forward through those parts). Like we've forgotten how it all works since last week
