I want to add that, If the friend had recently dated the guy (which was the case with LC and Doug) I would make sure the friend was okay with it.

If it had been years and years, than I would probably still mention it but not in a 'hey is it okay' more in a 'I went out with so & so'

So I wonder would Lauren have been as annoyed by it if Doug and her only dated in high school? Probably, she's a twit like that.

Re: The Hills

Man oh man is Spencer grating on my last friggin nerve. If I were Heidi's mother, I would have punched him right in the face. He is so rude, manipulating, and condescending. This is going to be your MIL one day jerk, you better be nice to her.

Stephanie is obviously lying to Lauren, but so is Doug. He is the one that instigated the first phone call to go to dinner. He completely threw her under the bus when explaining how things went down. He is not innocent in any of this.

I find it utterly ridiculous. I'm not an expert on dating, I married my childhood sweetheart, but it seems such a non-issue that Stephanie and Doug went out for dinner, particularly considering Laguna kids seem to think that's generally not a big deal.
Kristen went out for dinner with a male friend that had a girlfriend and I seem to recall Lauren going out for dinner with Stephen wile he was dating Kristen. While to some people dinner is considered a date, it doesn't seem to be to these people, unless Lauren deems it to be then they all fall in line behind her.
I just don't see what the big deal is and as much as I dislike Stephanie it really bothered me that Doug hung her out to dry.
Personally I'd have run it by her first, but she seemed so casual about the relationship maybe they genuinely didn't feel it was necessary.
Maybe Doug did it to wind her up, I don't know, but the reaction was typically ridiculous, imo.

It doesn't seem that the Lauren and Doug relationship was really going anywhere, she barely seemed bothered when she called things off between them. I think the fact that it was Stephanie allowed Brody to stick his oar in and wasn't he so pleased to be able to say "I told you so"?
Lauren didn't seem bothered that Audrina and JB went out with Heidi and Spencer. That didn't warrant a big discussion.
Doug should have the balls to say "we went out for a meal as friends, what's the big deal and why do I need Lauren's permission?" but as usual they all pussyfoot around Lauren.

If I was Steph and Doug I would have waited until she returned to ask her simply because dealign with the fallout is not worth it. Not only do you have Lauren to worry about you also have to contend with her entourage of bootlickers.

Lauren and Kristin were not friends, from what I recall they hated each other. So it's not the same.

I don't think Lauren was looking to give permission (at least from what I get) just a little consideration 'hey how do you feel about this...' I think she even mentioned how it would be nice to know about it before hand. Not a big deal. Besides, I'm pretty sure that Doug and Lauren did more than just go out to dinner.

Not only that but Stephanie was really shady about it. If she didn't think it was a big deal, than why did she make it a big deal? Why did she go out of her way to talk to Audrina about it? Why did they (Stephanie and Doug) plan this whole thing about what they were going to tell Lauren? Why did Stephanie lie to Lauren and tell her that it was all Doug?

IMO, it's because she knew Lauren would be upset that she didn't know about it first. I don't feel bad for Stephanie one bit, I'm glad Doug threw her under the bus not only because she deserved it but because it made him look like a jacka** too. Win Win.

Like I said, in my previous post, in my group of friends we never went out with guys that our friends did..if we did we were considerate enough to make sure our friends were okay with it. You're right a guy is not worth the fight which is why we let them know what was going on and made sure they were okay with it.

Doug is an idiot because he spent alot of time explaining/defending himself over something that isn't even Lauren's business. This is beyond bizarre.

If things have to be run by her and she wants to start huffing and puffing, then yeah, she's looking to be asked for permission.

Re: The Hills

I agree with those who said it's not Lauren's right to know what the other two are doing. The biggest reason being that Lauren dumped him; just seems like girls who get upset over these situations have a sense of ownership over people.
I think that even if she was told about the date beforehand, her and her gang would have said, "But you and Steph. are best friends.."
it's a lose-lose.
Brody's a bigger annoyance than LC, in my opinion. He just comes off as one of those guys who loves to gossip among girls. "I told you so!", yet we have yet to hear just what Stephanie did to Brody to mistrust her.

I didn't day it was the same, I wasn't making a tit for tat example, merely trying to illustrate how dinner didn't used to be considered anything more than a meal and friends could dine with friends without the additional drama.

I hope rumours of a Whitney spin-off are true and it will centre around Whitney's work at People's Revolution rather than boyfriend and best friend drama.

Re: The Hills

I believe she is getting a spinoff but is getting a better deal: Diane Von Furstenberg. Whitney is actually about something.

Re: The Hills

Whitney getting a spin off? She's so boring, she seems like a forced character on the show to fill up space. What in the hell kind of entertainment does she give off that should give her her very own show?

And I think too that it's ridiculous, even if you did date someone, that your friend can't go out with that person AFTER YOU 2 ARE DONE. If I fall madly in love with a girl that a friend dated, I'm not going to say to the girl, "I love you, but.....my friend said I can't talk to you, so...bye...forever..." Give me a break.

So in other words, you would choose a boy over your friend.

Can you fall in love before dinner?
