Wiccan mom was totally "abusing" her "I'm the Queen" or whatever she called herself. I highly doubt that the "coven" includes cooking the dinner for the family. The dad finally had some time to clear his head and see that he's being too lackadaisical in regards to the household duties and child rearing. I do believe having his wife constantly preaching the word of Wicca and how she should be revered.. clouded his thoughts.

Boy, we were REALLY hoping that they'd show her reaction to the plate being smashed. They never did.

I'm also tired of the women on this show repeatedly being the only ones in this to cry. Not that I want anyone to cry - I'm just saying the men's passive-aggressive attitude has grown very tiresome! In every episode it seems to make the guest moms cry.

The Wiccan dad cried...and it seriously made me all misty. He went through a serious revelation by doing this show.. and I was was happy to see that for once.

prhoshay I got a different interp from Kyle and his son. Kyle never did do the housework, and he was fine as long as it was something he didn't mind doing, like shopping or socialising. I felt he remained essentially obstructive/passive aggressive. I wonder if they ever let Wiccan mom handle the money. Also I thought the son did say that his mom was not like the dog because "it's not like we put a leash on her and make her eat off the floor". Neither showed much insight, I thought.

I wanted to see Wiccan mom's reaction to the broken plate also. I assumed she took it in stride, like she did the other changes. I don't think Wiccan mom was able to impart to the other family that women like intellectual stimulation.

It did not strike me that she was crying due to housework, Toasteroven, so much as the lack of other role for the woman in that household. She had no hobbies, no intellectual work or stimulus, and little respect in that house, also no autonomy. Having to beg for money from one's supposed partner is humiliating.

The Wiccan home seemed to roll with changes more than the other house. And I'm not Wiccan, I'm Christian!

I did have one question, if Wiccan family sees this. The manual said that the children aren't allowed to practise spells or magic til they are 18. Yet, when Wiccan mom left, she said "no bad magic on the guest mom!". If they're not allowed to, why did she say that.

She was probably kidding. I am familiar with Wicca and the entire point of Wicca is harmony with nature and doing good. Wicca is white majick so if you are truly Wiccan you don't believe in causing others harm. /end threadjack ( I used to study/practice Wicca)

I've seen several references to Wife Swap compensating families for appearing on the show, but I can't remember if any were posted by a participating family or if they were just suppositions. Here's a link to a supposed casting call announcement for Wife Swap, and it stated $20,000. I would think they would have to pay something. It might even be against the actors' union to not pay them because it would be considered taking away a job opportunity for being on TV.

As for this week's episode: I, too, was hoping they would show the mom's reaction to the broken plate. And what was up with her fugly tattoo on her forehead? It looked badly drawn. You would think that if you were going to permanently mar your actual face, you would at minimum get someone sober with a steady hand. Yikes! Maybe it wasn't a tattoo, and she just drew it on with a Sharpie. That would explain it.

Her hubby is a tattoo artist too. I was watching (as fiance of tattoo artist) thinking the SAME thing! Yuck.

Jafo's: Thanks for the info, that's what I thought. Then I wonder how much of what we saw in that episode was drama created by producers? Come on reality show producers. We like reality! Not show.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Just now came back to this thread. If you still care, it was because I had barely started watching the show, and you never know whether TPTB are indulging in their own hyperbole or reflecting the participants actual words. So I didn't know if Wiccan mom actually identified herself as a high priestess or if that was TPTB trying to be dramatic. So I put it in quotes. Quite a few people still seem to think that a (gasp) Wiccan is somehow SHOCKING! or at least exotic. {shrug} I know way too many of them. They're just like the rest of humanity. Some are great, some aren't, some are just scamming.

Last week Household Gods/Goddesses, this week Household Kings & Queens. Geesh. Never mind that in my household, I am Goddess, Empress, and Alpha Bitch, all rolled into one. You can get away with that when you're the only human.

Just because YOU didn't have a great childhood, school wasn't pleasant and you find that isolating yourself is better than dealing with the outside world.. DOESN'T mean it's "OK" to subject your children to it.

This whole episode was a snoozer.. I couldn't stand the lameness of the D & D family.

I saw the 21st century family had began to spend more family time together, but I missed if the midevil ones got more into the 21st century and stayed there.
Most important, did the midevil kids get to stay in public school??
