Forget the Wizard ... what about the Northwestern??? (disclaimer: I do not wish any harm on any of these fishing boats!) I got to see the Hansens and crew too.

    Re: Deadliest Catch

The Wizard has always been my least favorite of the core boats and the Northwestern my most favorite followed by the Cornelia Marie. I think it's significant that there is never a change of crew on the Northwestern. They added Jake Anderson in Season 3 and everyone who was there before is still there. Sig may be gruff, but he's shown a lot of heart twice with Jake, putting his needs before the fishing. I think that Sig and Edgar are grooming Jake, who already got his captain's license, to run the boat someday.

    Just my personal thoughts.

I am excited for the new season but it will definitely be tough to watch without Phil.

I have read a rumor that I will enclose it in spoiler tags although I don't know if it's true or not. It's from a site that promotes information about various Bering Sea fishermen and events. It includes bios on a few of them.
The bio on Jake Anderson said that he is promoted to deck boss this season while Sig grooms Edgar for the captain's chair.

I did find this to be an interesting site, but I don't know if it's permitted to name the site here.

Just watched a commercial for the upcoming season ... it'll be hard to watch without Phil.

I'm looking forward to this season. I really didn't enjoy last year. We knew Phil had died, but waiting for them to get to his collapse and the aftermath kept us filled with dread the entire season--but we watched to see how it was handled. I hope this year has the zest of previous seasons.

Nice retrospective of seasons 5 and 6 last night. I am so eager for the new season next week.
