Re: The Next Food Network Star

In my opinion, a show with Aaron would more closely resemble Guy's Big Bite than the Neely's. Hopefully, his recipes will be free of 1lb of bacon which seem to be Guy's favorite technique to add flavor. Okay, maybe I am exagerating a bit. Personally, I would have been only interested in a show with Aaron or Kelsey because they "seem" like nice people who also have a show. Of course this means nothing if nobody watches the winner, even though I will likely watch Aaron.

I think the likeability factor is huge in selecting a host. No matter how good a cook someone is, people won't watch unless they like the host. There are several hosts who I can't stand (Giada, Ina Garten, the Neely's). No matter how good their recipes are, I'm not going to watch. (I know there are lots of people who apparently do like them.)

Judging from posts here and elsewhere, Lisa seemed to have a higher negativity factor than Aaron. I started out not liking her, liked her for a couple of episodes, and went back to finding her annoying.

I find Aaron more likeable, but I don't know if he has what it takes to carry a show.

Apparently, from the "technical difficulties," TIIC [[do]]. I guess we'll all find out soon enough.

Re: The Next Food Network Star

What are TPTB at FN thinking? I can barely understand Aaron, and I am a linguist for gosh sakes! I didn't understand what he was saying until I saw the plantains and then I thought - "ohhh - he was saying plantains!" I will not be watching his show regardless of his hook.

The Food (Fool?) Network is forgetting who their base audience is. I can always watch reruns of Good Eats on you_tube and catch Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel.

Re: The Next Food Network Star

I do like Aaron but I just did not see him winning. I thought that Adam did a much better job and had a much better pilot presentation.

Well, another season and I am a bit disappointed but I do send congrats to Adam .

Lets enjoy Ted Allen and "Food Detectives" ! I love Ted Allen!

I was not impressed with Aaron initially , that said I think he has the potential to be like Guy. Give him some time and he can be on several shows on TFN.

Linguist here, too. Amen to that. Or should I say, "Da's coo'"?
