| Re: The Next Food Network Star Aceon6 - Now, that would be a show I would watch! I think Lisa would be perfect in the role of "Bree". ASassyKat - I agree Lisa does have some mad skills!

| Re: The Next Food Network Star Wow- so many new posts. I think Jag was last seasons pick by TBTB, but due to the same resume writing school as Robert Irvine, he was dropped. Amy was brought back, and beat Rory because she was the better of the 2. I love Guy and DDD. He describes the food in such a way that I feel like I am there. It is one of my top 3 on FN, including NFNS and Challenge. He was the rightful winner of his season. This year is different. Adam is fun to watch. I love his make it from scratch approach. Aaron can be warm and engaging. Lisa is perplexing. I either love her or hate her, but can't deny her talent. I do not think I could watch her. If she is the winner, then Amy's show was a success and they want to roll with that upscale theme. As for the promos in Vegas, Lisa had the easiest (albeit scariest of the 3). She didn't have to move. She just had to look where told. Aaron's was 2nd difficult. Walking and Talking on film is not as easy as it looks. It has to be in time with the camera on the dolly track. The timing with the role of the dice took effort too. Adam had the hardest. Not only did he walk and talk, but he has choreography added to it. If I had the opportunity to vote, I think I would vote for Adam. I think the FN needs to get back to focusing on food & cooking. While I love DDD, they have enough road trip shows. I want someone to teach me something I can do at home. I can't afford to go to all the places they go and would reference a travel guide and the internet for my vacation meal plans.

Maybe FN needs to , dare i say, branch off and make a second network. one that shows ALL cooking shows and one that shows food related shows?

| Re: The Next Food Network Star I wouldn't be able to watch a show with Lisa - something about her eyes, who they slit when she smiles - it's too weird. I think Adam should win - Aaron is too similar to other current FN hosts.

I agree that Jag was the host's fave last season, but then the debacle of his resume came back to haunt him.

Have you ever seen an early Emeril show? His performances would not get him through the door nowadays. I think they should give Lisa a chance. And give Kelsey a chance while they are at it. Since Sarah Moulton is gone, they need another perky little blonde.

| Re: The Next Food Network Star Another DDD lover here. That show just makes me smile. It's the only FN show I sit down to watch. (Other ones I have on while I'm cooking or doing something else.) |

| Re: The Next Food Network Star Regarding last season, IMO Rory lost, Amy did not win. I didn't find Rory very likeable, plus her smile made me lose my appetite.

| Re: The Next Food Network Star I really love Adam. He kind of reminds me of a young "Nekked Chef" - Jamie Oliver. I remember watching Jamie date this women, then marry her and now they have a growing family. I could see the same unfold for Adam albeit, a bit more entertaining with his personality. I did like his concept from the beginning, but I'm afraid TBTB might have changed it too much for him to fully succeed. I do like Lisa, again, she's lightened up, but she can still be a whirlwind. Kind of like Kat Kora in Iron Chef - running around crazy - but the difference is Lisa needs to slow down long enough to give the viewers a run-down of what exactly shes doing. Aaron reminds me of the Neeley's - not so annoying and fake, but still that same Hometown feel. Considering the Neeley's are getting more shows and more popular, is there really room for a second version? And my final thoughts - I really think last season's winner has bombed. Her first show was on a Sat morning squeezed between some up and coming other stars, and I don't think she had enough exposure and promos to support herself - the network seemed to have cut her from their roster. The Gourmet at Home is a nice approach, Lisa is similar, but her snotty attitude probably came off too much on TV and once the epis were shot, the network just hid her for contractural reasons and probably dumped her. I think in comparison, this season is a LOT stronger, I would be happy to tune into any of the 3 at least once to see what they are doing. And I concur with others - Guy is one of my FAVORITE hosts! He's so passionate but still a guy's guy (pun intended). My husband loves watching his shows and talks about going to some of the places. I'm really glad Food Network found him, and I think he does have a niche for discussing food, not just showing you how to make it - like Rachel Ray. |
