Impossible Heists: The Star of India ****SPOILERS****

I included the spoilers tag just in case, since there are still people just now finding this new show.

I enjoyed this episode. The object of this heist was to steal the precious Star of India sapphire from the gem room of New York’s Museum of Natural History.

    BLUE TEAM
    • Melissa and her claustrophobia... um, seems to me this is pertinent and important info not to tell your team about. And then she walks right into full view of the security camera she's heading to disable, and gives the camera a full face and full body shot of her. Not too bright. But she did have a good idea in using the black tape to secure the glass when it started to crack.
    • Interesting use of water to float the gem to the top. And the CSI was right, they should have thought to remove the security tape from the guard station, then Melissa being caught on the camera would have been a moot point.
    • All in all, an impressive effort by Blue Team. Melissa needs to learn some anger management skills, but still... nice job. And at least they completed their mission.

    RED TEAM
    • Ego, thy name is Red Team Some of those egos need taming, or at least some lessons in making your ego work within the framework of a team.
    • Um, shouldn't someone have thought to bring a screwdriver, considering what they were going to do? I actually did laugh out loud at home when T.J. got to the security camera box to open it and disable it and suddenly realized she had no screwdriver or anything to remove the screws from the box, and then listening to Renata and Nick searching through their stuff to see if they had a screwdriver, and no one did. And it was so funny/pathetic to hear Nick being proud of T.J. that she thought to use her fake fingernails to loosen the screws. I wonder if any of them ever finally snapped that a screwdriver was something they should have thought to bring with them?
    • T.J. adds to the forgot-the-screwdriver mistake by leaving the gator clips she used to short-circuit the camera behind, where even the slightest glance in that direction would have alerted the guard to them. She has to go back and retrieve them and misses getting caught by the guard by only a couple of seconds.
    • Nick was lucky the two gals with him didn't toss him to the nearest wolf, with his running commentary likening what the women were doing to making love. :rolleyes
    • Red Team's lack of teamwork really messed them up in losing time on the mission. Nick's taking over an hour to cut through the ventilation shaft, T.J.'s having to go back for the gator clips, and causing the team to come to a standstill when she couldn't move until the guard left again. The loss of precious time is ultimately what defeated them, and I attribute this to lack of teamwork and team support.
    • Considering the poor effort of Red Team, it seemed a fitting end to their mission that when they ran out of time they left a team member behind literally hanging in mid air, to be spotted by the security guard. It wouldn't have helped if they had stayed behind with her, but it's just a fitting visual end to their weak effort.

This was the first full show I've seen in this series, having only caught parts of the first episode. I'm liking it so far, though, and have put it on my regular taping schedule to catch.

Okay, guess no one else is watching this or interested in discussing it, so I'll refrain from putting up episode threads, lol.

But I'll just say that I've watched 2 more episodes since this Star of India one, and I have to say this series is actually pretty good. I hope they do another season/series of it after this one finishes. This 'reality' show actually treats the viewer as someone with a brain and does a good job of entertaining as well. Even though a lot happens over the course of each hour's episode, we still get to know the team members and the mission goal each episode is interesting and the ways they come up with to reach those goals keep your eye glued to the tv.

So this is one show I give a high recommendation to. Out of a possible highest score of 5 thumbs-up, I give this one a

I just discovered this show last night and was sad to find out that it was the last episode! Very cool show. I am hoping they'll be doing reruns. I'm sorry I missed out on it.

I like the concept of this show. However, I gave up after three episodes because of the unnecessary drama and the lack of intelligence. I was hoping for an "Oceans 11" type of execution but, IMO, it failed miserably. If it picks up again, I really do hope they get better contestants and work out the rough edges of the show.

You just described all reality tv shows currently on the air. This one has less drama than most, actually, and all the contestants are intelligent in their fields. There are no dummies here, just a few idiots What I do like is that because these heists are based on real-life heists, that adds a unique element of justified drama to it. It's not a show you can just watch mindlessly, you have to put something into it, and I like that.

About the Oceans 11 type execution, thank goodness they didn't go for that, since that really wouldn't work very well in a 'reality show' concept, nor -- in this case -- would it be as entertaining or factual. As far as the contestants, there are good ones and bad ones, just like on any reality show. Melissa is a real piece of work. :rolleyes Kelleigh isn't too bad though, she's probably the most level headed and intelligent of all of them.

I like what I've seen. I can't really say too much about the contestants yet, though, as I have nothing to compare them to, since the content/concept of this show is new and unique. But the format is very good, keeps the show moving along and the viewer engaged.

Oh, and to agamergirl, I think I saw somewhere that they'll be reairing the series in a few months.
