Four are left: Kevin, David, Wendy and Danielle.

The scene opens to Wendy and David hoping that Matthew makes it back because both Wendy and David don't think Kevin deserves to be there, that he doesn't want it enough, that he hasn't worked for it enough.

Guess, what , Kevin walks in with Danielle.

The pride goes of to see a new animal. They meet with Scott the animal expert and hang out with some marmosets. They are a new world monkey very small, body length is about 6 to 8 inches long with a much longer tail. Marmosets are monkeys and belong to the order of primates, there are 2 separate geographical types of monkeys, Old World and New World. YOu can tell the difference by the set of the nostrils. Old World nostrils face forward and downward, and New World nostrils face to the side. Also Old World monkeys tend to have fingernails and New World Monkey have claws.

These marmosets are sitting on everyones shoulders and heads and bitting Scott and Wendy. The teeth are small but sharp. The Marmoset lives in South America going as far north as Brazil and are arboreal. They live in trees. Their main food supply is tree sap.

At this point the pride goes off to their challenge. The pride has to partner up and Danielle and Wendy immediately do not make eye contact and David picks Danielle and Kevin picks Wendy. The challenge involves been high in the trees, and climbing around like a marmoset. The challenge here is that one partner will be blindfolded and have to rely on their partner to tell them what to do. David tell Danielle that he will do the physical part of it. They are about 80 ft up in the air. The first part of the challenge is for David to walk on a rope tightrope there is a hand rope to cling to. Then he reaches a platform and crosses it then has to step down about 18 inches on to a bridge made of wooden planks. There is no handhold, Danielle makes sure he is in the center and he goes. At one point there is a 24 in span with no planks and David must step across and than there is another span. Then David reaches a tree and another platform and then he must cross a log bridge, again with no handholds and blindfolded. He makes it across in 1 min and 45 seconds.

Then it is Kevin and Wendy's turn. Wendy gives very detailed instructions. Much more helpful then David and Kevin time is over 9 minutes.

David and Danielle win and they have to decide between them who will be King. Danielle says that she would never have made it in the time David did and that he deserves to be King because of that. David is King for the fourth time.

For the Reward David can only take one person and he takes Danielle because she was his partner.

They meet several snakes. One is a tree python that is green on top an yellow on the bottom and covered in blue spots. It grows up to 5 ft long and is found in Indonesia. Next is a Burmese Constrictor, that has a unique granite splatter design on its scales. This is a morph that was found in the wild and the coat or scale pattern is so unique that there are breeding them and they are still quite rare. Scott admits to having a phobia about snakes and is quite nervous holding it. This constrictor will grow up to 18 ft and has been known to eat small children.

Last is a eastern diamondback rattlesnake. It is a bit upset to be handled and lets up know by shaking its rattles. The snake adds a rattle each time it sheds its skin and that depends on how much it has grown and that depends on its food supply.

David and Danielle return to camp. Later in the day David announces that he is sending Kevin and Wendy to the Pit. He is not sending Danielle because she was his partner and she could have messed him up so he could not win but she did not do that.

Wendy and Danielle are trying to strategies because they do not want Kevin to win. In fact during the pit or on the way to the pit, Wendy admits that she and David and Danielle were trying to strategies for a way to make sure Kevin will not win.

    The Lion's Pit.

Question 1. What scientific order do Marmosets belong to?

Wendy does not wait to hear the entire question, she rings the gong and answers Primate. Madison finishes the question and Wendy is correct.
Wendy chops at a lifeline, but misses Kevin's and he is safe.

Question 2. Monkeys are split geographically in to 2 types, which does the marmoset belong to?

Again Wendy jumps ahead and rings the gong and answers New World and Old World Monkeys. Madison finishes reading the question and Wendy has answered incorrectly. Kevin chops at Wendy's lifeline and misses.

Question 3. What do marmosets eats?
Wendy again rings the gong first and answers Tree Sap and is correct. She chops as Kevin's lifeline but she misses and he is safe.

Question 4; What is difference between marmosets and Old World monkeys?
This time Kevin rings the gongs before Madison has a chance to finish the question. Kevin answers that marmosets have one nail each on their back paws. That is incorrect. Marmosets have claws. Wendy chops Kevin's Lifeline and he is gone.

Down to Wendy, Danielle and David.

Next week is a 2 hour episode starting a 6 pm.

Danielle is waiting for the results of the Lion's Pit. She hopes that Wendy wins. She and Wendy told David before this Lion's Pit that Kevin was behind the gang up on David strategy. Danielle and Wendy hoped that telling on Kevin would help Wendy in the Lion's Pit againstKevin. Wendy and David come back and they have a happy reunion.

The next chanllenge is a photography challenge. Daniel Cox a wildlife photographer comes and explains how to use these nikon cameras with these huge telephoto lens. He explains that you should try to compose your picture using the Rule of Thirds. That the Picture is divided into thirds, vertically and horizontally, and how to fill that space. He also says that is very important to focus on the animals eyes and that they be 'in focus'.

Danielle is concerned because she and her husband are a bit technophobic and just got cell phones and she figures she will be having trouble with the camera. David also expreses concerns onver using the camera as he does not have alot of patience. Wendy is very confident about using the camera.

They get to photograph a great horned owl, a monkey tailed skink and a Florida panther (mountain lion).

The results will be posted the next day. Meanwhile the pride goes on a reward and gets to play with a 3 mounth old female lion cub. A grown male lion weighs up to 400 Lbs and is 9 feet long. a female weighs 300 lbs and is 8 feet in length. Gestation is 3.5 months and females give birth every 2 years. If an new male takes over a pride he will kill the other males cubs. This will cause the females to gestate and the new male will mate but this does
not result in any cubs. The females will not actually breed until the leadership of the pride is more stable. Brothers will act as co leaders of a pride. Prides number from 6 to 30 memebers. Usually it is 1 male to 6 female. There can be 4 males with up to 20 females. It depends how large the territory is and how plentiful food is. An adult male can eat up to 35 lbs of meat in one sitting. Lions are active about 4 hours every day the rest is spent sleeping. Lions are threatened because humans are taking their territory and may soon be endangered. Fortunately, lions breed well in captivity.

Next day the results of the photo Challenge.

5th - a picture of a Florida panther, a subspecies of mountain lion - Danielle
    4th - a picture of the skink - Danielle
    3rd - a picture of the skink - David
2nd - a picture of the great horned owl - Danielle
1st - a picture of the Florida panther - Danielle

Danielle is king for the 2nd time.

David and Wendy will go into the pit.

David expresses concerns about his strategy and if he should try as hard or give it to the girls.

1st question: Typically how many hours a day does a lion rest?

David hears part of the question and rings the gong. Says 16 hours. Madison finishes reading the question and says David is wrong. Answer 20 hours. Wendy chops and David is safe.

2nd quesiton: lions are born with a physical characteristic that fades with age?

This is the strange part David didn't even try, that or he just didn't know the answer.

Wendy rings the gong and answers, spots. Correct she chops and David is gone. Wendy gets to collect all 6 of David's totems.

There is a very nice meal waiting for Wendy and Danielle at the camp. They open a bottle of wine and then find a message to search the cabins to find something to help them in the next challenge. They go off the search the cabins and find their partners. Stephan, Daneilles husband of 4 yrs and Troy, a Navy deep sea diver and Wendy's brother.

After the meal and going over the totems and seeing some flashbacks and discussing David they off to see an orangutuan. Orangutuans are endangered because of loss of their forest and because of the pet trade. Poachers will kill the mother to get the baby and normally, the mothers only breed every 12 years because it takes that long to raise one baby. Orangutuans
normally live up to 45 yrs in the wild and 60 yrs in captivity. They are arboreal and have water shedding hair. A male will weigh up to 200 lbs and have an armspan of 7 feet. Females will weigh up to 110 lbs and have an arm span of 6 feet. Mothers will shar their territorieswith their daughters. Males will just wander.

The final challenge is to get markers to help in the final lion's pit. Once 3 markers are given the challenge is over.

There are 3 walls standing. The other walls have holes in them. the walls stand about 10 feet wide and 12 feet tall. There are horizontal bamboo poles running from the outer walls to the central wall. The point in for Danielle and Wendy to hide on theur sides of the wall and so the opposing partners to try to spear/ mark them with foam poles dipped in paint through the holes in the walls. Wendy and Danielle lie lown and climb up and over all the bamboo poles to avoid being speared. Finally, Danielle, Lies over the highest poles and
Wendy is lying flat on the ground. Both ladies have been marked once. Both will go to the Lion's Pit with one extra lifeline.

The couples go back to camp and eat and there are several confessionals and we learn that this has all taken 3 weeks. The couples then pack up the camp and go to the challenge.

It is raining and the every one is in rain gear and the final Lion's Pit is conducted in the rain.

1st Question: What are the hairs tarantulas throw off their bodies to irritate their enemies?

Wendy rings the gong and answers barbs. Wrong. The answer (sp?) erticating hairs. Danielle chops a lifeline and gets Wendy on the first try. First time that has happened. Danielle is the final King of the Jungle. She has won it 3 times. The reward is that Stephan and Danielle both get to the special. stephan is trilled and thanks his wife for riding her coattails. They will be going to Baja California to track sea turtles.

    Special

King of the Jungle Pairs Animal Special

We are reintroduced to Danielle and Stephan the winners of the King of the Jungle Pairs. Danielle has been a volunteer with the Los Angeles Golden Retriever Rescue for the last 12 yrs and has fostered over 100 animals and has placed them all. Both Stephan and Danielle are looking forward to going to Baja Mexico to study the black sea turtle.

It is 4 am in San Diego, California. Danielle and Stephan meet Dr. Jeffrey Seminoff of the National Marine Fisheries Service. They will be traveling 400 miles south to Bahia de Los Angeles, The Bay of Los Angeles, which is approximately halfway down the Baja peninsula. They travel in an RV and it takes 12 hours to reach the research station. Dr. Seminoff works with groups like Earthwatch. Earthwatch gives volunteers the opportunity for volunteers to with with reserach scientists.

They are here to study the Black Sea Turtle which is a close relative of the Green Sea Turtle. The Black Sea Turtle is an endangered species, because the eggs are used as food, they are loosing their habitat and they die in fishing nets. The purpose of this trip is to capture as many black turtles as possible and attach a TDR, time depth recorder, to their shells and then collect the data. The data will provide information about diving behavior, water temperature and light levels. The more data collected the better scientists understand the turtles behavior and how to protect the turtles environment.

Danielle and Stephan finally arrive at the research station and are shown to their accommodations, a patapa, a open walled hut. They are told to make sure to shake the bedrolls before using them and to watch out for scorpions and snakes and spiders. Dr Seminoff says they always remind visitors of the 5 S's. Sun, stingrays, scorpions, spiders and snakes.

Danielle and Stephan are shown 3 holding tanks full of turtles, some for study the majority caught in fishing nets and injured and are here for rehab before release into the wild. Danielle and Stephan play with baby Olive Ridley turtles and then proceed to scrub down the tanks and the turtles. Then they are shown how handle the turtles and how to take measurements, such as the straight carapace length, the curved carapace length, the curved carapace width, the straight carapace width, the head width and weight. The turtles have very strong front flippers and use the back flippers as rudders. They can travel up to 20 kilometers a day and their territory runs on the eastern Pacific from southern California to Chile. In the 60's the population in Mexico was approximately 15,000 down to 1,000 today. They also want to find the hot spots in the bay were the turtle live and restrict fishing there as well as boat speed.

As Danielle and Stephan go out with the net setting crew they come across a pod of Fin Whales and spend some time among the pod as the whales breech. Fin Whales live in pods of 3 to 7 animals and live up to 100 yrs, travel 20 mph and are an endangered species.

Dr. Seminoff mentions that fishermen used to catch 100 turtle a month, the researcher team is lucky to catch 1 or 2 turtles a month.

Danielle and Stephan receive a diving lesson from an Italian diving instructor who speaks very broken English. They ended up in the bay and dived down to 30, then 60 and finally 90 feet. After they returned they went on 2 more net checks. At this point Dr. Seminoff decides to net another part of the bay and this involves an over night trip. Here we learn that Black turtles eat green and red algae. The netting crew stays over night on a beach and prepare another supper of tortillas, beans and rice, everyone is complaining about the Mexican food they are eating in Mexico. Not that they mind it but every meal is tortilla, beans and rice and they would like a little variety.

It is the fourth day and still no turtles found, everyone is discouraged, but at the last minute they do find a turtle and bring it on board. It is covered with barnacles. The crew get sit back to the research station and measures, tags and weight it and attaches the TDR. The next day (5th day) they go out to recover the TDR, they do loose a lot and it is very valuable equipment. Danielle and Stephan are shown how to track the TDR and manage ti recover the device. Dr. Seminoff is very protective to the TDR and treats is like his 'baby'. He shows Danielle and Stephan how to analyze the data recovered. Later that day everyone goes out on another net check run and amazingly find 2 more turtles. Dr. Seminoff is very happy as the population has declined so much that they are lucky to catch 1 or 2 a month.

Thus ends Danielle's and Stephan's adventure to Mexico.

    King of the Jungle 2

Can someone post what happened with this show? It obviously ended some time ago and I never knew who won and how. The last one I saw there were two girls (redhead and another), and the older guy who's partner was Petit (or something like that).
    Thanks!
