Sally Paluzzi said she isn't particularly crazy about her daughter's new hairdo.
But other than that, this mom said she couldn't be happier with Gina Davis' transformation last Monday on the Fox reality show "The Swan."
"I thought it was just wonderful," Paluzzi said. "They didn't change her too drastically. She looked very nice."
Producers of "The Swan" thought so, too. They picked Davis, a 38-year-old medical auditor from South Daytona, to move on to the show's "beauty pageant," which will air Dec. 20.
In the months leading up to her appearance on the show, Davis underwent several plastic surgery procedures, received dental work and physical training. And, yes, she was given that hairdo that Paluzzi isn't quite a fan of -- "She already had nice hair," Paluzzi said.
Perhaps the most dramatic change for Davis, who is deaf, was when she was given new hearing aids.
Paluzzi said it's the first time her daughter has been able to hear her own voice since she lost her hearing as a child.
"She said she can definitely hear a lot better, and that's great," she said.
It hasn't been an easy process, though. Davis' home was badly damaged during the hurricanes while she was in California for the show.
But Paluzzi, along with Davis' husband and son, encouraged Davis to stick it out for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Her family will join her in December for "The Swan" finale.
"We're really excited, it's been a long time since we've seen her," Paluzzi said.
