I agree with you Wolf; I think Lang would do a great job of hosting a show, but he really needs to stop with the sensitive stuff, not to mention all those weird Tai Chi/ New Age? whatever the hell kind of movements he's always doing, especially at the Lion's Pit challenges when he's about to cut the rope and holds his arm steady with the other hand. So silly looking...Lang, just swing the machete like everyone else wouldya!

Sorry its took so long to recap but life just interferred.
The members of the pride are in the kitchen tent, playing cards, eating and wondering who will make it back. Then the camera shows Lang walking toward the camp and members of the pride see him and no one else. Then Jacob appears. Cynthia saids that all the ladies are happy to see Jacob back.
Next we see Tony talking to Lang. Tony asked if Roberto had any last words, as everyone is allowed to send back a message. Flashback to Roberto leaving a message for Tony. Roberto said that it was ok that when his log fell down, he knew it was his time to go and that he felt peace and that it was ok. Flash back to Lang saying that Roberto was just glad to go home. (What's with that???)
Lang gathers the pride and says he wants a jam sessions where they will play home made instruments and express their inner most feelings. People do not look too comfortable with this , especially the women, they don't see the purpose. Bee gets up and says something to the effect that if you get voted in to the Lion's Pit you do. ( it was a bit confusing). Lang said that at the next challenge he would pick the two slowest people to be sent into the Lion's Pit. Cynthia commented in a confessional that Lang was assumming that the 2 slowest would be women and she didn't like it tht he would be trying to use the women to buffer him from going into the Lion's Pit. Then Henry make a comment that it was not fair that the women were not competing and that the true competition was the men because they have the alliances. Lindsey - (confessional) said that they couldn't believe that came out of Henry's mouth that the women expected it from some of the other men not Henry and that the women felt insulted.
Then there is a clip of the women in their tent complaining about the jam session and what Lang and Henry said. Here it is really confusing with the editing because you are not sure which person they are tallking about. Cynthia or Cherry make a comment about slapping Lang in the head. The women want to send both Henry and Lang to the Lion's Pit.
Then the pride goes to meet a baby chimp and learn a bit about the Great Apes our closest living relatives.
Chimp facts: They live to about 40-45 years old in the wild. They in groups called communities and a chimp is a primate which is a great ape.
Lang has to give up the King's Amulet.
The host, Madison, tells the group that they will have to work in teams. There will be 2 climbers and 1 caller. 2 people will climb up a cargo net and when both have touched a wooden beam the caller will read 3 questions. The cargo net is stretched over about 30 feet and there are wooden tiles with letters written on them hanging from the net. The caller will direct which tiles the climbers will collect and spell the answer to the question. Then the 2 climbers have to touch the wooden beam that they touched at the start of the race and they will be timed. The 3 survivors of the Lion's Pit will be the captains of the teams and choose there teammates. (lLang, Henry, Jacob)
Lang picks Tony. Henry picks Bee. Jacob picks Cherry.
Lang picks Cynthia. Henry picks Patrick. Jacob picks Lindsey.
Lang and Tony are climber and Cynthia is the caller. They go first.
They do one question at a time.
Questions: 1. What Great Apre is solitary rather then social? Gorilla.
Lang picks Tony
8/3 recap continued
Sorry, I fat fingered a button and lost most of this post so hopefully I will get it right this time.
2nd question: What primate is closest living relative to humans? Chimpanzee
3rd question: Which of the great apes is the largest? Gorilla.
At this time Cynthia realizes that they have used gorilla twice as an answer. Then she realizes that Orangutan was the correct answer to the 1st question not gorilla.
We see Tony during a side bar and he comments that he and Lang are 2 big guys and that they really got that cargo net swinging and that really made the task more difficult.
Team 2: Patrick is the caller.
Bee and Henry are the climbers.
Henry does a sidebar mentioning how smart Patrick is.
Patrick reads out all 3 questions then answers them. He immediately gives the climbers instructions to get what tiles. How he keeps tracks is amazing because he is doing all 3 answers at the same time.
Team 3: Cherry is the caller.
Jacob and Lindsey are the climbers.
Cherry reads a question and answers it one at a time. But what the team did is start at the far end of the cargo net so when they were finished the climbers were next to the beam and they did not waste any time reaching it. Cherry did a very good job at calling out where the tiles were.
The host, Madison, tells Team 3 that they have to pick one of themselves to be the next king. Both Jacob and Lindsey point to Cherry and she is given the King's Amulet. The Pride picks up some palm fronds and waves them over Cherry's head as they escort her to the King's Tent. The women are celebrating in their tent, they are thrilled that Cherry won.
Bird Mail arrives and Cherry picks 2 of the pride to go on a reward adventure. She picks Cynthia and Bee because neither of them have gone on a reward yet. So off to the jungle where they spend sometime with an 1,800 lb swamp buffalo.
Meanwhile Lang, Henry and Jacob go for a walk. Land sidebars and says that he wants to get in touch with nature and himself. Jacob climbs some vines and acts like a chimp.
Everyone is back at the camp and Cherry decides that she will pick 2 people to go in to the Lion's Pit. Lang does a sidebar commenting that Cherry is very soft on the outside but very strong on the inside.
Cherry tells everyone to gather at the fire. She says that she is going to pick 2 people to go into the Pit and that her decision is not personal and that if anyone asks that she will explain why she is sending that person into the Pit. Tony sidebars and comments that Cherry has a lot of guts and is just doing what they should have done from the beginning and that is just picking 2 people. At this point Henry stops Cherry and says that he volunteers to go into the Pit. he says he is ready to go. In a sidebar Henry mentions that he feels this is a good strategy that he has survived one Lion's Pit and that by volunteering he is in control of the situation. Cherry says OK. Then Henry comments that he hopes by volunteering that she will not choose any members of his tent to go in to the Lion's Pit. Meaning Lang. Cherry picks Lang. Either Bee or Lindsey (they did not show the person you just heard the voice) asked why Cherry picked Lang to go. Cherry says that during the 'Jam Session' Lang had commented that his strategy in picking people for the next Lion's Pit would be to pick the 2 slowest people from the challenge. Cherry said she did not like that but that she was not mad about it. But that is the way that you (meaning Lang) choose to play the game and that you have your alliances the way you do. Lang replies 'that OK, I would have asked why regardless, but he thinks that she is just talking it (It was hard to hear exactly what he said and I reviewed the tape at least 3 times) and that it was shallow. That the reason is shallow and it questions his judgment. He doesn't deserve it and that he is a man of integrity. (you see Patrick just staring at Lang wondering where all this is coming from.) Lang is walking out of the circle and turns around and says he is tired of being judged and hated by everyone and then he walks off. Cynthia- is confused and says ' where did that come from?'
Next morning, Cynthia and Lang are in the kitchen tent and she is making the coffee. Lang is yelling out of the tent to Henry asking him if he wants any coffee or pop tarts else Lang will have it for breakfast and that all that coffee and sugar will help him win the Lion's Pit. Cherry is then shown talking to Lang in the kitchen tent and she tells him that her 13 yr old nephew would have handled the situation being that Lang has. We see a sidebar of Lang saying that Cherry insulted him and that he was not going to apologize to Cherry after she insulted him and that would just make him appear weak. Nothing is resolved Cherry is almost in tears.
Cherry, Lang and Henry walk to the Pit and meet Madison. Madison asks Cherry how she likes being king? Cherry tells Madison that it was a lot harder then she thought it would be. The competition starts. Lang wins the first challenge, answers the question correctly and chops at a lifeline. Henry is safe. Lang wins the second challenge, answers the question correctly and chops at a lifeline. Henry is safe. Lang wins the third challenge, answers the question correctly and chops at a lifeline. Henry is Gone. Henry approaches the platform where Cherry and Madison are standing. Cherry tells Henry that he is a classy guy. That he is one of the nicest people she has ever met. That he is a shining example of what a man should be'.
In a sidebar Henry says he is very happy with Cherry's comments. He unintentionally offended her during the talks at the jam session and he had apologized but he wasn't sure if he had been forgiven.
In another sidebar Cherry says that she did not realize how fast Lang was, if she had she would have sent someone besides Henry in (to the Lion's Pit).
You can see that Cherry is not happy with the outcome.
Next is a preview from 8/10 episode and it looks as if tensions are getting worse. AP does have tendency to mis-edit previews indicating people are upset with a certain person when it is actually someone else. There was an additional sidebar that Lang had done after he was chosen for the Pit about his feelings and all this is coming out but I am really not too clear as to what he is trying to say. I wish AP had used subtitles on some of the verbage just so the viewer can follow. Sometimes when people are emotional it is hard to hear or make sense of what they are saying.

I thought that Cherry was being very upfront about how she was picking people and her reasoning. Lang appeared to go off on this huge tangent. How was his judgment called in to question? How was his integrity questioned?
Later in his sidebar he mentioned all these feelings that well up in him and explode. I don't get it. I am confused. When some of the cast made comments that Lang is crazy I agree with them.
Will we ever figure out what happened????

Jacob was dead on when he said that Lang was using intimidating moves so everyone would cower before him. :ohno I'm so glad Jacob won, but I have to say that I'll miss that crazy sob of Lang. :) I think we all agree that he is charismatic, and charming when he's not in one of his Drama King moods. He would've made an excellent host of an animal show. Of course, like you guys said, any of these guys would make much better tv than the previous winner: Kelly.
I love that this show is a lot more competitive compared to last season's show, but I have to say that I miss the competitions that had actual animals as part of it. The fishing for crocodiles, filming with a tiger, finding and identifying animals, etc.. I guess they did away with that since these contestants are not really animal experts like the others ones.:mmm
Lang definitely has his DARK side. What I didn't like is how he blamed Cherry for him being outside the group. That once he figured how to get rid of her he would integrate back into the group. Well, its clear he doesn't realize that having major hissy fits in public has ripple effects, such as people not wanting you near them cause you might explode and hurt someone. He was a strong player and maybe playing wacko was a strategy to intimidate his competition but in this case it backfired on him.
Lang, I wasn't unhappy to see you go!
Totally with ya on this Wolf! I was thinking it last night as I watched...it's really great to actually have some competitions and drama going on, but where's the animals!?! I feel like they are really being cheated compared to last years group with only one small info session on the animal of the week and then only 3 people really getting to enjoy an animal encounter. If only they could blend the two together a bit better *sigh*.

I agree that I wish they had more animals involved in the challenges, and I know why they don't. But still, last year's crowd wasn't really expert with all the animals they had to handle; I have to say I could have kicked all of their butts in the snake handling competitions, as well as a lot of the times when they had to give a presentation that involved knowing a few facts. I swear I would try out for this show if my job would allow me to go do it!
(hey libra, don't they film this in Florida somewhere....:lol)

During the Lion's Pit after the question is asked and Madison says answer. The 2 contestants have to grab the ring and put it over the pole, Lang was faster than Jacob, but he really has a grab and slam power technique. At one point the 2 rings hit each other and they both tried to out muscle the other. It looks like by the 3rd or 4th question Lang won but Jacob was right behind him and Jacobs ring slammed done on Lang's hand. It looks as if it received more damage during another question. It was broken in 2 places.
