June 24, 2004 --
REALITY TV guru Mark Burnett may have just dodged an Australian legal tangle over his new rock 'n' roll series that will try and find a new lead singer for the band INXS.
Burnett is heading to Sydney to meet with executives from an Australian network, Channel Nine, to resolve a dispute over who came up with the idea for "Rock Star."
Members of INXS have said they presented the concept for "Rock Star" to Burnett last April, but a producer at Channel Nine alleges he pitched a similar series to the band's management in October last year, according to reports.
It is believed that as a solution, "Rock Star" will air on Channel Nine, just like Burnett's other shows, "Survivor" and "The Apprentice."
"There will be no legal action against Mark Burnett Productions," a Nine spokeswoman told The Daily Telegraph.
Burnett was traveling yesterday and could not be reached for comment.
INXS members claim they came up with the idea for "Rock Star" five years ago.
No U.S. network has bought the show yet.
