I think rumor had it that it won't be till 2005, they were planning one in the mid-east till things heated up in late 03

Yeah, I just checked the Eco web site and they don't even talk about the next race yet. ( I bet Mark is also too busy with his new ventures to think about Eco)
But I can't wait for the next adventure, as this is the granddaddy of reality shows.
"They can only edit what you give them. They cannot manufacture a fictional character out of thin air." (Bill Rancic - 4/04)
Regarding editing reality TV: "You can't edit IN a bad personality." ("Cali"-11/02)
BB8 - A "conveyor belt of human garbage." ("Pono" - 9/07)
After the last one, 2002-Fiji, that was broadcast May 2003, USA network announced that they would NOT be broadcasting anymore.

I hadn't heard that, thanks. Wonder if it will go back to Discovery Channel, didn't they do the first one?

(or a major network) It's a damn good competition.

The following e-mail that I found on an Adventure Racing site spells doom for the Eco-Challenge. It seems they sold their event equpment back in February of this year. There is also a rumor that the TV Contract is up for sale, too. Perhaps someone besides Burnett will run it one day.

Subject: Eco-Challenge Event Inventory Sale
Attention Race Directors or aspiring Race Directors:
Eco-Challenge is liquidating their event production inventory.
Everything must go. There are about 16,000 items, ranging from
rescue beacons to zip ties - everything that was owned by the event
and shipped overseas to produce the event. Items range in from brand
new to 8 years old.
Examples are:
EPIRB Rescue Beacons
Weatherhaven Tent
200m spools of 11mm climbing rope new and used
Generators
GPS's
Rubbermaid Action Packer boxes
Hammocks
Rigging bolts
Heli Nets
Bungee Cords
Cooksets
Field Toilets
Gas cans
Glow Sticks
Power Strips
Voltage Converters
Traffic Cones
Tents
Flagging Tape
Stuffsacks
Zip Ties
You get the idea... lots of stuff small and large, in various
conditions.
These items will not be sold individually. The entire inventory will
be sold to a person or company who agrees to take all items, in their
present condition. Everything is located in Santa Monica, CA in a
storage room.
The bid must include emptying out the room. The space is desperately
needed as soon as possible.
All bids are welcome.
If you are interested in receiving the entire inventory list to place
a bid, please contact me at triciamiddleton@e... and I will
be happy to send it to you. If you would like to submit a bid, you
may see the entire inventory by appointment.
Cheers,
Tricia Middleton
