| House of Dreams- 2/23 episode: Swamp Dinner I love when I actually get to catch this show. It happened again this week, so I get to once again bring the faithful few a recap of the happenings in Florida. Johns Gone!! How very depressing. He seemed like a nice guy, and I didn’t even get to see his last episode. It took me a while, but I finally figured out that I may only like him because he reminds me of Vincent Some-Really-Hard-Last-Name-To-Remember-I-think-it’s D'Onofrio, from Law and order CI. So anyway, we open last nights show at camp with Mike informing us that he thinks Rochelle is stupid for announcing to everyone that she wants Flor, Jim and Tony gone. I, on the other hand, can’t figure out why they are not mad at Sherrill, who seems to be a snake. Perhaps he is just that good, and no-one realizes that he’s playing the game hard. Mike wants Flor gone. This comes as no surprise even to viewers who miss an episode or two. I think most people want Flor gone. I think even Jim and Tony want Flor gone, but are scared to say anything. Flor lets us know that she is the King of the camp and that Jim is her Queen. She tells us this in a joint confessional with Jim, who seems to be fine with being relegated to Queen status. At the construction site we learn that the crew will be pouring the concrete for the driveway and the front walk. Mike has poured concrete before, so he has no trouble showing people what to do. Folks spend time talking game. Viveca tells us it’s cliquey, Rochelle says it’s high school, Jim says there is no one to trust. Matt meanwhile has figured out that the power shifts after every eviction, and it seems to me that he’s got the people, the power and the game figured out pretty well. The concrete gets poured and the crew writes their names in it. They include all the ones who have gone, and by the time they are done, it’s a big mess. George is on screen, so we know it’s time for the Key Ceremony. Of course Viv gets a free pass, as she escaped eviction last week. Matt goes first and makes it through. Flor is up, and for the third time this season, gets to don a red hat. Sherrill goes, and is followed by Mike, Naomi (who?), Jim, and Tony, leaving the second red hat for Rochelle. Flor is not happy about having to wear the red hat again, especially since there are three who have never had to wear one. She does feel confidant though. She lets us know that she’s there to win the house “Because I can”. Cocky little something isn’t she? The red hats have to cook for the camp. It seems like it’s supposed to be some kind of cook off, but everyone kind of chips in, so I’m at a loss as to why it was considered a Red Hat Challenge. Weird. Even weirder though, was the menu. The campers got to dine on Gator, Conch, Frog Legs… oh Man… that stupid AXE commercial starts running through my head. I take an Ice Pick and shove it deep into my brain. When I awake, the show is over. Sorry. HAHAHAHA… yeah, so they also get Eel and Shrimp. Yum, it’s like a swamp dinner. While everyone is preparing and then eating, we get more voice-overs and confessionals: We learn that Mike thinks he needs to get Rochelle back in the game. We learn that it is Rochelle’s nature to throw in the towel. We learn that it is Rochelle’s nature to never quit. Yes, you read that right. Sherrill thinks everything is great, and that everyone is having a wonderful time. Jim thinks Matt has nice calves. After dinner, a dinner that everyone seemed to really enjoy, Mike takes Rochelle aside and gives her a pep talk. She is upset about it, but also realizes that she needed it. Day 29 of the adventure dawns and Rochelle has decided to go with the persona that never quits. She knows she has Mike and Naomi (who?). The three sit around trying to figure out the best way to get some more votes for Rochelle. Viv is torn, but thinks she is leaning towards keeping Rochelle. I find it interesting that she thinks she is leaning one way. Wouldn’t she know if she was leaning one way? No one is asking her to commit at this very moment. Over at the site they need to hang all the interior doors. I honestly feel like this house is taking forever to build. They seriously could have speeded this show up if they’d done more than hang a few doors in an entire day. Rochelle listens to Joe’s instructions and she is in charge of a crew installing doors on the lower level. Flor does not lisen to Joe and is in charge of the upstairs crew. Rochelles crew does a great job, but Flor, who barks out orders to everyone, has them install the first door backwards. Joe comes by and explains what to do and Flor gets an attitude. Hmmm, I suppose she doesn’t actually get an attitude, she really has had it all along. Perhaps shows her attitude would fit the scene better. Joe tells the entire camp that Rochelle did a great job and that Flor didn’t do any real work, but she was good at giving orders. I think I know whom Joe wants to keep around. Back at camp Flor sees Rochelle talking to Sherrill and realizes it’s time to step up her game. She has a heart to heart with Sherrill. Interesting term she used: Heart to Heart, as honestly, I’m not positive either of them has one. She feels good about her manipulation skills and he lets us know that he knows what’s up. He thinks she made a very good lawyer once upon a time. The red Hats get to choose more furniture for the house. This time it is for the master bedroom and a spare bedroom. I don’t know if it’s the spare room or a spare room, but there are only two suites going into the house today. The group votes in Flor’s choices. The master bedroom will have the “Black Country Living” set and the secondary bedroom gets the “Madison”. I realize that my descriptive passage there leaves much to be desired… sorry, it really was just furniture. Sherrill seems to be getting cocky. He has figured he’s the swing vote, so he’s kind of walking around like he’s untouchable. I’m not sure he’s been paying attention. He could easily be up next week, so he needs to calm down a bit. It’s time for the eviction. Flor gives what I consider to be the worst speech in the history of “Please-Keep-me-around” speeches. I shall paraphrase: Flor: I’ve been told I must have done something evil in order to have the red hat for the third time. I vow to you all that I don’t have a Hit List, I have no pacts. I realize I don’t have a family, I don’t have a husband and you may wonder why I should get the house. Well, why not? I could use it as a start Ummmm, ok. Up next we have Rochelle. Her speech is slightly better: Rochelle: Last time I was up for eviction I said I was doing this for my daughter. I have realized that I’m doing it for me too. Keep in mind that the person you keep tonight might wind up on the jury that ultimately decides who keeps the house. I know we all deserve this house Off they go so that the Jury can deliberate. George calls on Naomi (who?) to start things off: Naomi (who?): I know Flor and I have differences and I don’t think she would vote for me to stay if I was up there. Matt: I am thinking along the same lines as Naomi, but not about the same person Sherrill: I’ve looked at both sides and I’m trying to figure out who I can trust. Jim: I’m on Rochelle’s hit list, so I have no choice Tony: If Rochelle hadn’t named us, I might feel differently, but she never should have said that. I am doing this for ME. Mike: I am passionate about Rochelle staying. She’s an honest person At this point Jim interrupts and the two spend time arguing. I have a hard time figuring out what point either is trying to make. Jim seems desperate to shut Mike up though. Over at the house Flor is less confidant than she was earlier and Rochelle seems pretty happy that she has stayed true to herself. I think that’s nice, but I also think Flor has stayed true to herself, proving that it isn’t always an admirable thing. The ladies come back and Viveca is up to speak for the jury. She lets them know that they have both formed loyal friendships but Flor is going to stay. Mike is pissed Flor and Jim are happy. Rochelle gets her Five Thousand dollar check from Lendingtree.com, and tells us that she honestly thinks it won’t be long before there are some people who regret voting her out. She figures things at camp are going to get worse and worse. Back at camp Jim and Flor hug and laugh. Sherrill says he feels safer with Flor and Jim. Mike is tired and doesn’t think it’s cool that lying, sneaking backstabbers might get the house. Tune in next week when there is a twist that thrills Mike, but upsets Jim and Flor. Dummmmm, Dummmm, Dummmmmmmmmmmmmmm (that’s dramatic “wait-til-next-week” Music)

| Excellent recap cali!!!! Here's one thing I was wondering.... we all know that the house is realllly far from where they are actually camping. At the dock, where they have the vote off...they're near the lake. Well, from what I can tell..the lake is where they are camping. How in the hell are the two redhats WALKING all the way to the house (as the show is insinuating) while the jury deliberates?? I think not.... /just an observation I noticed last night.

| Thanks for the recap cali! I don't mean to be picky, but doesn't it usually go in the "Decorating and Home Improvement" forum?

| Best part at the end ... Jim moves out of Team Mike's tent officially, and he and Mike get into another word fight. Jim may have had the last word, but Mike's laugh was much sweeter. Love what he said to Jim. Can't remember exact words, but loved it. Please, please, please, let the twist be that the tent with the most people have to nominate 2 red hats out of it ... !?!?!?

| why? why? why? I am new on this forum and needed to write in response to all your recaps cali. I have enjoyed reading you from the beginning when you started posting about HOD. However, I am completely disillusioned with what am reading. What has Flo done that is so bad? She hasn't lied to anyone, she hasn't badmouthed anyone (unlike Rochelle, Viveca, Wanda, Mike, Tony, Matt, Jim, and Sherrill's backstabbing ). I really am fed up with all the bad posts. Please tell me how she has lied? who has she manipulated? (if you say Sheriill, save your breath since he IS THE BIGGEST MANIPULATOR), who did she betray? I don't get the hate for this woman. I believe she is courageous and admirable. Do you know that Mike betrayed Rochelle in the last vote? he voted for flo. Do you know that viveca has been rumored to be sleeping around with matt? why don't they get the bad press? If Mike was doing what flo was doing, he would be called the best player of them all. We are dealing with a smart woman and i believe you all hate her for it, but can't help to just continue to talk about her which in turn makes her the show. Naomi who? is correct. That's the only thing I agree with. ![]() |
