Thanks Maveno. I'm probably reading too much into it, but the fact that they didn't say anything may mean more than if they had said something. This is a crew that likes to mess around with you. :lovestruc
As far as the surfer ep and the offering the HO a job - I think Marc was joking around with the guy (who is a professional painter). What I picked up from what he said was that Marc was giving him a little ribbing about being an HO with actual skills and that the crew was going to keep him. I never thought he was serious - maybe it's because I have a very similar sense of humor as Marc, but I never take anything he says seriously, he can deadpan with the best of them. Marc's also said that James is leaving (he was giving him crap about a job he either didn't do well or didn't do on time...something James had done that was annoying that of course I'm drawing a blank on now), but he isn't from everything I've read and heard.
Some of the eps I've seen lately (I'm right beside you on that IAF marathon, John - I'm only 3 eps from seeing them all finally) are more Clean Sweep meets Trading Spaces than what I'd call classic In a Fix. I like the jobs where the ceiling is falling down, the walls are half ripped out and the HOs are eating off of cardboard boxes because they can't get to their dining room because of the construction debris. That's where I think the team really shines, but maybe it's just hard finding a lot of houses that are that bad.
Justin is an absolute construction god - and I enjoy him all the more for his snarky attitude with James, who is an incredible carpenter and a general slack-off. I ventured over to the home site and read the bios - gee, who'd have guessed Sparky was a male model as well as a real electrician? :blush Greg and Danny are both fairly popular stand-up comedians with lots of experience as GCs, James is a real honest-to-goodness tradesman who did apprenticeships in carpentry and joinery, two of the three designers are nationally acclaimed with big client lists and Jennie is..an actress. One word of advice - don't venture on to the official forums. Scary, scary place.
I'm hoping one of the IAF repeats run this week will be the kitchen mess ep so I can actually see it. Last night was a messed up townhouse that had water spraying from the ceiling (my realtor would have heard from me if I'd had the same problems these HOs did). It was okay, I wish there'd been more time spent on the carpentry/repair issues (who did end up resolving the leak in the ceiling and how did Jenny finish off those boxes - she wouldn't have left them unfinished, I hope) and less on Justin and Sparky messing around with the spray popcorn for the ceiling (and James and his ice cream cone). Is it me or are the eps that have Danny and Greg usually more repair-intensive? Seems like Danny is always putting up a wall and Greg is usually putting in cabinets.
not real sure, but I think tonights show is the one where the wife faints at the end when she sees the redo. Its on at 6 central on TLC

I think they're all excellent casting choices. Jennie is a hottie, for sure, but they don't play up that angle at all (except for a few shots of her drywalling in low-slung pants), and I notice the ring on her finger. It amazes me they don't play that up more, really.
I'm always bummed when Sparky and Justin aren't on the show. Justin is the heart of the crew, I think. And Sparky is pretty good at what he does (and he's a handsome guy, too).
When James spray-painted Justin's beloved hammer hot pink, I thought for sure there was gonna be some blood. :lol
It is Medieval Kitchen tonight, it's on right now for me. I just heard the HOs name was Avena - and now all I can picture is oatmeal bath, which doesn't do justice to her because she's so pretty.
I'm glad this one's got Justin, Sparky, Danny, Greg and James (and Deborah, I love her designs). John, without mentioning names and being a snot putting down other people...there's a whole contingent of people at another place that want the show pulled because there's too much skin, especially Jennie and Sparky's. When she bent over and her bra showed in the Tropical garage ep, there were pages and pages of people calling it porn.
I guess you can't please 'em all. :D
I haven't seen the Tropical Garage episode, but I'll be sure to catch it. :drool
I don't mind a little Sparky skin. The guy's got a bod, even though I don't swing that way.
I like Jenny, think she has a good carpentry talent, but I don't think "they" are real so that gives demerets in my book :lol And Sparky is good eye candy for the ladies, and James and Justin too. Justin needs to calm down a bit though, he is too intense, almost like he just got out of the marines and hasn't indoctrinated back into society totally yet.
Woah guys! Hey I'm new here, and in case you can't tell I've got it BAD for James.. I joined this board hoping maybe someone could help me out. I'm craving information on him and the show but so far I can't pull much up on him besides the basic stuff on his biographies. I think it'd be cool if I could like email him or something, just to let him know how much I think he rocks and his shelves and projects blow my mind. He's just awesome in all areas. I think out of everyone he's definately my favorite. So hit me up if you got any information.. I'd really like to know if he's married.. laters.
As for contacting him, you should do it through approved channels only. If the TLC website has a contact method, that's what you should use. If not, you shouldn't be trying. We support the right to "celebrity" privacy here.
As for being married, I have no idea. Wish I could help. It doesn't mention a wife or lack thereof in the official bios? That's odd.
I love when he's on with James because you never know when he's going to blow (but you know he will). I think it was the ep where they did the nature inside thing (the one where James had an ice cream cone when he was supposed to be doing the floor) and Justin was ragging on James about something and the camera caught just a split second of him after he said what he did and he was winking at James and giving him a sneaky grin. I take whatever he says with a moderate grain of salt - as with most of these shows, I'm sure there's a sort of personality script they all follow a little bit.
