Trading Spaces in London - Hilde

    Hilde's room

    Ugh.
The poor children clearly didn't think a whole lot of the room.
The room was very poorly oriented, one of the beds would have to be moved every time anyone needed access to the closet.
I know the beds were on castors, but I imagine the parents would get sick of that pretty quick.

I pretty much hated everything about this room.
God knows how she went so over budget.

I thought both rooms in this show were so phenomenally small that it would be tough to do anything right.

Regarding Hilde ... it was nice to see her so relaxed and having fun ... with paint all over her! I think marriage is agreeing with the girl.

Plus ... that female HO was just the worst! Whine, whine, whine, whine, OH SHUT UP ALREADY!!!

Why did they have to find two Americans to do rooms for? (especially Blue HO the ugly American personified). I think it would have been far more interesting to have had the TS folks re-do normal sized rooms in normal houses for normal Brits ... just the way they do it on Changing Rooms.

Though I had some reservations about the finished product, I couldn't believe that I actually kinda liked one of Hilde's rooms! I agree about the bed blocking access to the closet, though, and I did not like the fake polar bear fur on the floor...

    I agree with you Eden.
I think TS missed the boat on this episode entirely.
I would have loved to have seen English HO's.

The HO Gen was working with was appalling.

I think the rug Hilde chose was hugely impractical.

Just one grape juice drop, and its over. Not to mention the other nasty things that real kids get on carpets. The kids were entirely underwhelmed, but Hilde doing a kids room was strange.Hilde doesn't usually acknowledge kids are on the planet.
She didn't use any broken glass or hay anyway.

That room is hideous! If it were for a teenager or a querky adult...maybe! This is not a kiddos room. How can this person make any money as a designer?
It occurred to me that no matter how bleak things might seem at times, at least I have a head. ----Stargazer

Hilde did take up a lot of the girl meagre floor space with the two beds.
    The girls didn't like it.
I think they were still young enough to have liked a themed room or possibly something in either pastel colours or a continuation of the bright crayon shades she used on the closet doors which you can't see in the picture.

Also even though the two female participants were American, they are living in London, one of the fashion and trend setting capitals of the world so I feel the designers should have checked to see what was current in the UK before designing their rooms.
The gulf between British and US trends and fashions can be huge.
