    Food Network Shows

Lately I've been finding myself really enjoying some of the shows on the Food Network. Let me say first off that I'm an average cook, and don't enjoy making complicated dishes -- I prefer down-home home cooking. But some of the shows on the Food Network are very interesting and educational in an entertaining way. I'm actually finding myself watching some of the cooking shows, like Paula's Home Cooking, and wanting to try some of the things I see. In fact, today I made 3 of Paula's dishes recently featured on her show.

But I was wondering if there are others here who enjoy watching the Food Network?

My favorite shows from the Food Network are:

Unwrapped (where it shows how well known foods and treats are made, including going into the plants or locations where things are made and showing us the behind-the-scenes processes. I love seeing how things are made )

The Secret Life Of (where it goes more into depth about featured foods, such as pizza, peanuts, donuts, barbecue, etc, and gives lots of info about it, including the history of the item -- very fascinating stuff told in a humorous way)

Paula's Home Cooking -- my favorite of their cooking shows
I live in my own world. But it's ok, they know me there.

I like Food 911, Food Fight, Iron Chef (not the American version), Good Eats, Unwrapped, Party Starters. It's an interesting channel and they keep things fresh with new shows.

I like Paula's Home Cooking, Good Eats, Unwrapped, Iron Chef (both), $40 a day, Food Finds and Barefoot Contessa. I used to like Everyday Italian but Giada DeLaurentiis really gets on my nerves the way she wrinkles up her nose all the time... way too perky. I love the way Paula Deen just digs right in to the food with huge bites. She would be fun to go out to the bar and have a few drinks with.

I can become mesmerized by Food Network FOR HOURS and this was before all my beloved FORT foodies got me into cooking. It was pure porn for me.

If you're interested in reading, here's an old thread on this same subject:

Then Rachael Ray (whom I love but apparently a lot of people can't stand) got her own thread, though it's confusingly in the Decorating & Home Improvement forum.

I'm addicted to the Food Network. However, I don't do much cooking myself. I'm the messiest cook when in the kitchen. I find just stirring I make a mess. Splash here.. splash there.. over there.. on me... :rolleyes If I could throw the pots and pans away after I'm done cooking, I'd cook all the time.
Anyway... just watching I've picked up such tips. So when I decide to cook, I'll at least know what I'm doing.

My favorites are: Rachel Ray, Bobbie Flay, Jamie Oliver, Paula's Homemade cooking and Giada De Laurentiis (Everyday Italian). I also watch Lidia Bastianich (Italian cooking). She's not on the food network though.

I love the food network (I have the Canadian version). As a matter of fact, I'm watching it right now. (Impatiently waiting for Survivor...) It's Unwrapped, one of my favorites. I also enjoy Iron Chef, Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals and Christine Cushing Live (I think it's only on food network canada).

lol, I agree... watching Paula dig right in is part of the fun, and double fun when she brings her husband and son in to share the grub.

I'm no Elvis fan, but I tried her meatloaf and fried biscuits with honey butter from the tribute to Elvis show.... yummmmm. Heaven
