I think my liking of Emeril depends on my mood. I've never actually liked him from what I'd seen of him in places other than the Food Network -- I don't even like that toothpaste commercial he does. But a few times when I've been in just the right mood and channel surfing, I caught him and liked him for a few minutes at a time. I can't take too much of him, though, and I really don't like his style of cooking. But every once in a while, I'll watch him for 15 minutes or so.
I live in my own world. But it's ok, they know me there.

Well they DO try to make it out that way! The sensual music, the soft focus camera, those low-cut shirts she wears that !shows just barely enough!

I don't really watch Emeril much anymore, but I do like the live shows and used to watch pretty frequently. He's just such a natural with the crowd. Anywhere else, what he does just seems like schtick, but it doesn't seem that way on the live show.

And I am going to have to give Giada another try, after seeing these ringing endorsements of her!

Giada's white bean spread recipe is phenomenal.

Something about Giada bothers me, I can't put my finger on what exactly though (maybe it's related to DesertRose's "Lollipop Theory" ), however I must say that every recipe of hers that I've made has been simple enough for this novice cook to pull off, and has been a big hit.

I can't say the same for Emeril's recipes. I've had difficulty with anything I've attempted from his show, and it makes me feel even more like a complete loser because he's always bellowing about how it's "not rocket science" on his show. I actually do still like Emeril personally, but I can't watch much of him anymore. Like Sleepy, I prefer mellow Emeril to his bombastic live persona--maybe because I first saw him on "Essence" and that's what I'm used to.

Does anyone watch or cook any of the stuff on Calorie Commando? I really like Juan Carlos Cruz, and I think so far his recipes have been fantastic renovations of old favorites, which I appreciate as I am (kind of) health conscious about my eating these days.*

*I feel like a hypocrite saying that, having just had an In-N-Out cheeseburger, fries, and milkshake for dinner.

    I'm bumping this thread.

I can't stand how Sandra Lee matches her outfits to her kitchen.

    Or vice versa, LOL...

I think she has a kitchen (and a strange cocktail) for every day of the week...

Since we are talking about who we can't stand *grins*. I can't stand the Barefoot Contessa. Hubby loves her and is watching her right now, I can't stand her voice and her accent seems phony. BAH!

    Love Iron Chef: America though.

Can't say I recall ever watching a Sandra Lee show.. is she the one that does that easy cheap stuff? Ah just googled her. She is, she does that Semi-Homemade. Great concept but the couple of times I watched it she lost me. Didn't like her.
