They started with one of the ugliest kitchens I have seen in a long time so that any thing would have been an improvement...But what was Frank thinking in having every thing match the ugliest elements in the room....It looked better than when they started but not much and some creativity might have helped them streatch the budget to deal with the ugly elements they left....particularly the water stained drop ceiling

Gaaaah, this is driving me crazy. Vern would have taken down the backslpash, put in new flooring, put in a new ceiling and had the end result way less fugly than Frank's best!

Why haven't we seen more VERN?

    I wish I knew Duck.
I can't even remember the last time I saw Vern on TS.
He did a TS Family earlier in the season, but that's about it.

    I agree with you too.
    Working with the ugly stuff?
There is no way Vern would have done that.

That room needed a professional designer.

    I can see it now...

The beauty of designing or TS is that you would know right off the bat you won't be worse than Hilde, Kia, Rick and more often than not (imo) Frank.

Plus, you might get to meet Carter

    Ohhhh, ugly room made....uglier!

Those poor HO came in, expecting that ugly backsplash and carpet to be gone....and what did they get?

    Multiplied ugly!

    those poor people!

Where oh where is Vern? He's great at floors. Even doug toook up that carpet in the other room and painted the cement (I think? If I remember the episode right...)

but Frank? Nooo....Ick on that backsplash.

This is another room of Frank's where I have no idea what he did with his budget.
He could even have painted out the backsplash.
You cna get great tile paint that works really well and would not have made much of a dent in the budget.
I would have thought that would have been his first order of business as it fits his 'if it stands still - paint it" philosophy.

You can never get a classic room from Frank.
It always has to be paint effects, decorative painting or the like.

    No kidding!

I used to look forward to Franks whimsy in the rooms....but that free-hanging, stained ceiling deserved KILZ instead of tree branches. And yes, that backsplash needed paint. BADLY. (Maybe tree branches? )

What did he do with his money?
