I watched the marathon too. I don't like Hildi that much...and I sure don't like how she wears those pumps/heels while she works, it's just silly.
Anyway, in one episode she had the couple use silver-leaf on the molding of the room..it was WAYyy time consuming and to top it off, it would chip off with the slightest of movement. Then, to further infuriate the couple working..she finds (in the basement) 2 black leather couchs and decides to use them. ??!?!?! The couple working on it said that the HO's spent $2500 on getting them upholstured FOR THE BASEMENT. Also, what the hell was she going to do if she DIDN'T find them!?! It was really really rude, imo.
Hildi fought and fought with them and used them anyway. What a jerk. Then at the reveal the HO's were bummed about it.

In another episode, she was told over and over that the HO HATED PINK!! Hildi has them paint the room with the closest thing to pink you'd ever see!! She kept calling it coral, but the couple working on it were adament that it was pink. (I agreed 200%) It was as if she was making it pinkish on purpose. She even had pink roses for the flower arrangement. ? OH, also she balled up copper wiring and nailed them to the wall. ?
I don't know how, nor do I understand..but the HO's lovvvved it. It was strange.

Back to using items from the HO's home: I don't understand how they can do that.. I've noticed other designers use items/furniture from other rooms and incorporate it in the scheme of things. But, to ME..if it's NOT in the room being designed, it's off limits. Also, what if they're selling it, or giving it away, or what if it isn't even theirs?!

One couple had a 10,000 piece puzzle that was finished and in the garage. Kristie, the new designer, saw it and went..."OOHHHHhhh perfeccccttttt!!!" She wanted to put it up on the bedroom wall for the art. I was pissed, especially knowing that the puzzle had to of taken forever to put together. What if it was going to be a gift for someone? What if they don't want it on the wall?! She didn't end up using it cause Amy Wynn said it wouldn't work, that it would fall apart. But no doubt, she would have.

Anywho..I really get bugged when they use other items from other rooms. What gives them the right to just go "searching" for things to help finish the room?!

I really wish they'd play the episodes where the HO's hate the room and the reveal is usually alot of yelling and swearing.

All things beautiful do not have to be full of color to be noticed; in
life that which is unnoticed has the most power.

I agree with your comments re using items that were in other rooms Maveno. They should be off limits.

Hildi using those couches was ridiculous.
She recovered them in some ridiculous floaty fabric and you just know the HO's would take them right back down to the basement once the crew departed.

I hope...and am never quite sure that most people realize how impossible it is to reverse most of Hildi's nightmares...

I just have this fear that some one will see what she has done and says well that might be cool....and makes a multi-thousand dollar mistake based on one of her 'designs' .

This show was at one time....a home improvement show...but that was before we got Doug and Hildi and a couple of other show stealers who seem to be on the show for the what not to do factor and the entertainment value of seeing the Home owner upset.....I wish they would go back to showing us new ideas on a budget which is why most of us want to watch the show..

Maveno....I can't remember which designer did this but some one found wedding silver candle sticks in the basement and some how incorporated them into a room in such a way as to ruin them....

Not every one puts trash in the basement...and I think with Hildi its a good idea to send all your furniture to the neighbors....

That was Rick Rifle museum guy.
    He's a crap designer imo.
The particular room you're talking about was simply diabolical.

Thank you fluff...I try to forget Rick and his "designs" as much as possible...

Yet at my age it could be a memory thing.....

The wrapping paper had a circular pattern in bright colours, so she got a crap load of those paint cans which she used to make a light fixture.
Basically, there were a whole load of paint cans on the ceiling, some of which had a light bulb in them

I actually liked the room..well, except for ALL the paint cans on the ceiling. I think maybe they would have looked better if they were painted too? I dunno. this room was a lil busy but not as scary as her other rooms.
