I voted TiVO, but only because I have the DiSHTV, TiVO wanna be. Not nearly as cool as TiVO, but me and my family still love it. I personally in my own room have just a VCR and i used it to tape something once or twice.

I know this tread is really old, but what about ReplayTV? I like it alot better than TiVo!

I just recently heard of replay TV. Infact it was just while Christmas shopping.
I haven't heard what it can do though.

It's practically the same as TiVo, but I think it has many more features.

The feature I like the best is that if you miss a show, you can go to planetreplay.com and request it to be uploaded to your Replay unit. It's pretty awesome, and helpful if you watch a lot of TV!

That IS a nice feature. The only bad thing I've heard about ReplayTV is that you need broadband to use it, and that the company is suffering financially and may not be around for long.

I also heard you can send shows you've recorded to other ReplayTV-owning friends, which is an awesome feature.

Yeah, with the 4xxx and 5xxx series' you can send and trade shows with anyone. I bought one for trial (and returned it) and tried downloading an hour-long episode, and it took over 2 days to download.

And... I have cable internet. So I guess you only use it if you HAVE to. Each one-hour show is more than 1.5GB!

lol - like I said, I returned the 4000 series, and just use an old model that doesn't have this feature.

I also have 2 VCR's, because VCR prices have gone down
significantly in recent years and I like to copy videos/movies.

In Canada, recordable DVD players are expensive.
I am waiting for the technology to become more popular
and price to fall before buying. I am not sure if Tivo is available here, at least not through my cable/satellite service.
