10/7 TAR 21 Mini-Cap: Long Hair Donít Care

Ten teams leave from Shanghai, China for Surabaya, Indonesia. Rob and Kelley, thinking they might get a jump on the others, book an earlier flight that will take them through Hong Kong. They didnít get that leg up as they ran into a four hour layover. The other teams all fly on the same plane with a transfer in Jakarta. In Jakarta James and Abba put themselves on a waiting list for an earlier flight to Surabaya and arrive first at that destination. They all arrive in the dark hours and take taxies to Alun Alun Stadium where they find small whips with numbers on them from one to ten. As they arrive they take a whip off the plaque to indicate their start position when the gates opened.

    ROADBLOCK

Teams will ride on the back of motorcycles to race against a pair of bulls pulling a racing sled. In the order of the number on the whips they pulled, each team member will ride on the back of motorcycles at the same time and when their race is completed, they will receive the next clue.

James and Abba, with number one finish first.

Rob and Kelley with number 10 finish last.

    ROADBLOCK: Who likes to Party?

One member of a team will power a childrenís ride called an Odong Odong using pedal power while four small children sit atop the animals on the circling merry-go-round. As the team member pedals they must also inflate balloons and twist them into shapes to present to the children. Once all four children have received their balloons, they will receive their next clue.

    Trey and Lexi finish first

    Gary and Will finish last

    DESTINATION

Teams must travel to Wijaya Motor Shop to search for their next clue.

Trey and Lexi find the Motor Shop first.

Natalie and Nadiya are close on their heels.

    DETOUR

    Ice by the Pound

Teams will deliver ten 60 pound blocks of ice from Tirta Maya Ice Factory by truck and cart to Pabean Market. Once it is safely delivered, they will receive their clue.

    Trey and Lexi

    James and Jaymes

    Abbie and Ryan

    Josh and Brent

    James and Abba

    Caitlin and Brittany

    Gary and Will

    Rob and Kelley

    Amy and Daniel

    Fish by the Barrel

Teams must sort through barrels of fish to set up a stall with different varieties and when the owner feels they are ready for business, they will receive their clue.

    Natalie and Nadiya

    DESTINATION

Teams must search the bustling Pabean Market for the Pit Stop.

    PIT STOP

A very stinky Natalie and Nadiya find Phil first and proceed to share their fish experience with him in a hug. Trey and Lexi finish second and the two teams are happy that they came in first and second to keep with their agreement.

    Order

Natalie and Nadiya Ė they receive the EXPRESS PASS

    Trey and Lexi

    James and Jaymes

    Abbie and Ryan

    Josh and Brent

    James and Abba

    Caitlin and Brittany

    Rob and Kelley

    Gary and Will

    Amy and Daniel - PHILIMINATED

    Extras:

When the larger group discovers James and Abba have left them for another flight in Jakarta, they talk about long hair donít careÖbut turn it into long hair do care.

Trey and Lexi agree to work with Natalie and Nadiya to the end of the leg.

Natalie says that if this had been a real party, she would be the one to do it, but since this is the Amazing Race, there wouldnít be downing of 30 bottles of Tequila.

Gary and Will think they are in last place during the Detour and Will blames himself for not being able to blow up balloons.

Three teams had taxi drivers that didnít have directions to the correct shop named Wijaya, and, especially for Amy and Daniel, that took them to the back of the pack.

Gary and Will continue their defeatist attitude on the way to the Pit Stop, stopping to take in the culture rather than running.
