    Re: Stranger Things on Netflix

What I love about the kids is that they look like REAL kids, rather than show biz kids. The girl that plays Nancy is beautiful - reminds me of a young Emmy Rossum - but most of the others are just regular looking kids. They actually look like the kids I went to school with back then! There were boys who were MAD for Dungeons and Dragons when we were in junior high. Any of them would have looked perfectly at home on this show!

I liked that they mentioned the cranio-facial condition the kid who plays Dustin has and then really never made much of it again, except when he was bullied about it.

I'm not the biggest Winona Rider fan, but I am a fan of a good comeback and she's due for one. She was such the It Girl back in the day and then it all went away. She's had some tough years, so I'm sort of rooting for her now. Even though I know she's 44 and plenty old enough to be the mother to those kids, I still feel like she's too young!

I'll admit that I totally notice the music, especially with shows and movies set in the 80s. When they've got it a little wrong, I do notice. I just don't know why the continuity/research people don't check on those things....or maybe they do and don't care

I loved it and can't wait for season 2! I hope they film it soon so the kids don't grow up too fast. They were all good actors, good casting.

Mike and I watched and loved it! I wasn't sure he would but he had me at 'did you see the movie poster on the basement wall?'
Me: no - what movie was it?
    Him: Guess...
Me: Mike, I have NO IDEA.
    Him: The Thing
Me: No way, how did you know?!?
    Him: Rewind it and see.

And sure enough, he was right! He LOVES THAT MOVIE!

Finished it! But sad that it ended. This was right up my alley. Loved the nods to E.T (hiding 11 in a closet, putting an odd dress on her and a blond wig) and Stand by Me.

I too thought the kids were outstanding. I'm on the fence on Winowna's performance. But everything else was stellar.

My one question is that why did the monster get Will even though there wasn't any blood?

Man that was a quick season! I couldn't stop watching! Loved it! I was so sad about Elle! Then got so relieved when Hopp got those Eggo's and took them out to that box. She's alive out there somewhere! Can't wait for S2!
