We will watch it next week... I am keeping my fingers crossed on its potential. I do like a build up and things happening on the edges of our day to day experiences that we don't take notice of until it the you know what hits the fan. I just wanted to see a bit more of that.

On a related note, I was listening to the radio and they mentioned a second person came down with the plague from Yosemite..... all I could think of was ZOMBIES!

Oh and when that guy was coding in the hospital, I kept waiting for him to jump up and bite someone.....

There were zombies! I thought this was supposed to be zombie free.

Why would you think a show called Fear the Walking Dead wouldn't have any walking dead? This show is depicting the events at the beginning of the outbreak - what we didn't see in WD because the show largely followed Rick's story in the beginning and he was in a coma when the outbreak began.

I really enjoyed the premiere. I like shows with character development. If I want all action, I'll play a video game. I liked though, that the focus was largely on one family AND that Travis and Madison are just normal people without really any skills to survive in the zombie apocalypse. We'll see the outbreak through the eyes of "everyman" (or woman). I also loved all the little nods to what's happening next, like Travis teaching Call of the Wild and Alicia's class learning about Chao Theory. We'll get to more action eventually, but I'm going to enjoy the build-up. It's what we missed with WD.

I've loved Cliff Curtis in a lot of things, but my favorite is still Whale Rider. I've always found him very attractive. I prefer him with his real accent, but I'll take what I can get! Funny that Kim Dickens is the only one of that "family" who's American; The other three are a Brit, a Kiwi and an Aussie.

For me, the star of the premiere was Frank Dillane. He's a terrific natural physical actor. Harry Potter aside, this feels like the first time I've actually seen him act. I think some actors would come off too "acting!"-ish with the role. I thought he hit all the right notes and I was really impressed with his physicality.

I really love Ruben Blades, so I hope we'll see him soon.

I agree with you about Frank. Kid is crazy good in this role.

I didn't say the premiere didn't catch me. But I really don't go for zombies ordinarily and only saw one episode of WD. What I read about the show beforehand was that this was a prequel to the zombie apocalypse so I envisioned something pre-zombie. We'll see.

Frank Dillane (the druggie son) is the actual son of Stephen Dillane who played Stannis Baretheon on Game of Thrones. I looked him up and he has evidently done quite a bit of acting (it helps to have good genes) . I've been a fan of his dad for a long time.

I've watched WD from the beginning, and thoroughly enjoyed Fear the WD premiere. But, it freaked me out and I had a hard time settling down to sleep that night! Even though we know what is about to happen, the characters have no idea what is going on- I love that about the show! I did keep looking around corners for zombies to appear, and really thought the old man in the bed beside the son was going to attack him while he was in restraints.
