Bitten Season 2? Is SyFy Series Canceled or Renewed?

Bitten season 1 is set to end on April 7 and the SyFy (Space in Canada) series has not been renewed as of yet.

The cast and crew of the show are hoping and even planning for another season, though.

“We’ll do what we can to come back for a second season,” Laura Vandervoort (Elena) told HuffPost.

Vandervoort, Greyston Holt (Clay), and Greg Bryk (Jeremy) also discussed in a recent press call what they hope happens if there is a season 2.

That includes Jeremy and the pack getting with the times as far as Logan and Rachel and their unborn werewolf baby go, though it would remain to be seen if they let Rachel live after giving birth.

The cast also hopes for more exploration of Clay’s backstory and Jeremy’s character.

Bryk said that he’d like Jeremy to be caught off guard and find somebody completely unexpected, perhaps falling in love.

'Bitten' Renewed for Second Season at Syfy - The Hollywood Reporter

The Canadian original scripted werewolf drama will return for another 10 episodes in 2015.

TORONTO – Syfy has picked up a second season of the Canadian original scripted werewolf drama Bitten.

The NBCUniversal-owned cable network has ordered another 10 episodes of the supernatural thriller that stars Laura Vandervoort (Smallville) as Elena Michaels, the lone female werewolf in existence.

The second season will unspool on Syfy -- and Bell Media's Space network in Canada after its own renewal last week -- in 2015.

Entertainment One Television International, which is handling worldwide sales of Bitten, secured the renewal deal with Syfy.

“Bitten is a fast-paced and edgy series which has found a growing and passionate fan base on our channel. We’re delighted to bring the series back to Syfy next year," said Chris Regina, senior vp programming at Syfy, in a statement Friday.

The Canadian drama averaged 1.1 million total viewers, based on live-plus-7 data, during its rookie season run on Syfy.

Bitten follows Elena as she attempts to escape a world she never wanted to be part of (as well as the man who turned her into a werewolf), abandoning her pack and taking refuge in a new city, where she works as a photographer and hides her werewolf existence from her boyfriend.

When bodies begin turning up in her pack's backyard, she finds herself back at Stonehaven, the werewolves' ancestral domain, where she will stop at nothing to defend her pack.

Bitten co-stars Greg Bryk, Greyston Holt and Michael Xavier, and is produced by No Equal Entertainment, Hoodwink Entertainment and Entertainment One, in association with Space and Bell Media.

The drama joins Syfy’s stable of foreign and domestic acquisitions that includes Lost Girl, Continuum, the upcoming Spartacus and The Almighty Johnsons.

Syfy also has co-productions in Z-Nation, with The Asylum, to air in fall 2014, and Olympus, co-produced with Reunion Pictures and Great Point Media, ahead of a 2015 debut.

Bitten is executive produced by J.B. Sugar for No Equal Entertainment, John Barbisan and Patrick Banister for Hoodwink Entertainment, and Tecca Crosby, John Morayniss and Margaret O’Brien for Entertainment One.

Daegan Fryklind (Motive, The Listener) is the showrunner.

    Re: Bitten on Syfy

Season 2 has started on Syfy, Fridays.

In an interview with the author that I had posted up thread, she said that the producers were going to strictly stick with werewolves for the series and had not bought the rights to Stolen and therefore the characters of Paige and Savannah. Well, that is not true for season 2 which seems to be marketed as wolves vs witches. I won't even go into complaining about how Rose and Paige do not resemble the characters from the book.

    Bitten - Episode Guide - TV.com

    Season 2 Episode 1 - Bad Blood - 02/7/15 (aired in Canada) - 04/17/15 (aired in America)

In the Season 2 premiere, Elena and the Pack are on the hunt for Malcolm, while back at Stonehaven, Jeremy's leadership over North America is challenged when he is given an ultimatum by the Council of International Alphas.
    Season 2 Episode 2 - Scare Tactics - 02/14/15 (aired in Canada) - 04/17/15 (aired in America)

While in Louisina Clay discovers the truth about his family. Back in Stonehaven, Malcolm refuses to reveal Rachel’s location. Roderigo’s arrival at Stonehaven takes an unforeseen turn and two unexpected visitors enter the mansion. Meanwhile, Elena meets with Diane to talk about Philip’s death. The night falls in Stonehaven hot and unpredictable.
The producers really love showing bare male buttocks in this series, being shown half hidden out of hospital gowns, sitting on the toilet, and in bed, or standing against a wall. Seriously, Clay making luv to Elena standing in the middle of a casement opening (the entry from one room to another) connect with Elena while Elena holds on to the casement trim work.

While I really like the author's Other World series it is hard to see the producers butcher the story the series is based on. I am enjoying the first two episodes of season 2 and will have to consciously let go of what I know about the books vs the tv show. I did think it incredibly stupid to have had Malcolm be the one to have bitten Clay as that comes across as very deliberate almost with forethought and Malcolm was very much a bully ruling with his fist. Malcolm is already hated and disliked the producers really do not have to provide more ammunition to make him unlikable, why are they hoping for a story of redemption and forgiveness in the future?

    Season 2 Episode 3 - Hell's Teeth - 02/21/15 (aired in Canada) - 04/24/15 (aired in America)

    Bitten - Season 2, Episode 3: Hell's Teeth - TV.com

In a flashback we witness Savannah’s kidnap. Back to present day, Jeremy and his pack are searching for Malcolm; also Roderigo’s pack is looking for Roderigo. Paige and Ruth return Stonehaven and discuss with Jeremy the terms of a witch/werewolf pact and set a trap for Aleister. Savannah sends Alastair into the trap and a big – with an unpredictable outcome – begins.
Lots of blood and conflict between the wolves and witches and interpack politics. I am having a hard time separating the book series from the TV series particularly where it involves Clay's background, his being becoming a wolf and being Jeremy's second. I didn't like it when they said Malcolm "raised" and "trained" him to fight. One thing about Clay is that he knows himself, his wolf, and is absolutely loyal to Jeremy and Elena and that being bitten so young he is really merged with his wolf and lives much in the now and to see him doubt himself so much is jarring to the character I know and have read about for so many years. Lets not even get into what the heck they have done with Paige Winterborn. If you can step back you have to give the writers credit for making a very fast paced 3 episodes showing how brutal and bloody being a werewolf can be all the while hiding from the normal human world.

    Season 2 Episode 4 - Dead Meat - 02/28/15 (aired in Canada) - 05/01/15 (aired in America)

    Bitten - Episode Guide - TV.com

Elena is kidnapped. The Pack and Witches are trying to locate Elena and Savannah. Logan has sneaked in Aleister’s Compound and is looking for Rachel. Aleister’s big plan has a name, “The Undoing.”
Well, Elena has muscles although she looks very slim/skinny.

Just going along for the ride. The second season is loosely based on Kelley Armstrong's second novel "Stolen".

    Season 2 Episode 5 - Rabbit Hole - 03/07/15 (aired in Canada) - 05/08/15 (aired in America)

    Bitten - Season 2, Episode 5: Rabbit Hole - TV.com
In a flashback we see how Dr. Bauer met Aleister. Back in the present, Elena is forced to assist Dr. Bauer, Aleister continues on manipulating Savannah and Rachel is being brainwashed. At Stonehaven Paige and Nick try to track down Aleister’s step mother, while Jeremy and Ruth take another path in search for answers. Elena manages to communicate with the pack.

Bloody as usual. Aleister is Ruth's son. Paige and Nick have sex against a tree. That looked totally uncomfortable the way he was moving her up and down the bark of that tree. Aleister was raised by very religious people growing up who tried to beat the devil out of him. Seriously, with all the material Kelley Armstrong has in her Otherworld books you would think the showrunners could write a better story.

    Season 2 Episode 6 - Nine Circles - 03/14/15 (aired in Canada) - 05/15/15 (aired in America)

    Bitten - Episode Guide - TV.com

In a flashback we see Aleister’s birth. Back in the present day, Rachel meets with Logan, while Aleister tries to break the connection between Savannah and Elena. Elena manages to escape but she’s hallucinating. Clay and Paige are reaching to the Compound.
I am so glad this story arc is over or at least this part of it. It just felt icky, and lacking much substance and they just were stretching it out waaaaay too long.

    Season 2 Episode 7 - Bad Dreams - 03/21/15 (aired in Canada) - 05/22/15 (aired in America)

    Bitten - Season 2, Episode 7: Bad Dreams - TV.com

Savannah is tortured by a bad dream; meanwhile at Stonehaven Elena an Clay make plans for their future and Jeremy meets with members of the Council. At the Compound Nick and Paige destroy evidence and Paige convinces him to meet with his mother. Back at Stonehaven, Jeremy is being blackmailed by the Spanish Alpha and Savannah’s arrival complicates things further.
The feel of this episode was so much better than the last several even though Aleister appears at the end. The episode feels better because it actually feels as if something got accomplished in this case Nick met his mom, however the season is getting very repetitive with Aleister popping in all the time and with the werewolf pack politics.
