    Re: Chicago Fire

Aww, poor Ernie, the Captain was all choked up. Maybe I missed an episode but can someone explain to me what the connection was with Ernie and Uncle Ray? He really wasn't his uncle, right? So, Ray was forcing Ernie to set the fires for whatever reason, but Ernie seemed to be able to ride around freely on his bike. Why did he not go to the authorities or the fire house? He wasn't a little kid. Well, it was nice to see Treat Williams guest star as Sevaride's dad. It looks like the experimental surgery will go well. Now, being experimental, where is Sevaride going to get the money to pay for it? Insurance won't pay. Details, details. I hate to nitpick but things like this drive me nuts. Casey's mom gets parole and now has to live with Casey. Mouch (older fireman who was eating marshmallows...is that his name?) saw Mills steal a kiss with Dawson. I wonder how long that relationship will be a secret? Looks like in the previews Mills suspects that Dawson might have feelings for Casey.

Yeah, when they said the surgery was experimental and his HMO wouldn't pay for it I expected that to be followed up by the girlfriend offering to pay or the doc saying he had a grant that would pay. Instead they brought it up and left it hanging. Odd. Wonder if it will come back in some way...maybe Severide has to work 2 jobs or something.
I agree...think Mills/Dawson/Casey triangle will come out somehow soon. I am a bit puzzled. Dawson still seems to want to bed Mills even though she now knows that Casey is interested...

I predict lots of sticky situations with Casey's mom moving in . . . especially if she brings that creepy guy over to visit (the one who asked Casey the personal questions while he was visiting her in prison).

I'm with you PWS - thought the girlfriend would use some of her financial expertise to pay for Severide's surgery. Not sure what to make of his Dad's situation. Perhaps he's got money.

I think Severide's dad is a retired firefighter, with 4 or 5 ex wives---doubt he has much money!

Yep, Severide's dad told his son that he was in no position to give him advice as he was 3 wives removed from Kelly's mom. And yet, he knew about the girlfriend and that Kelly was going to leave for Spain, so I guess they are in contact with one another. What kind of a name is Kelly for a hunky guy like that? It's too girly, imo.

If we are to believe that good genes run in the Severide family, I suppose the ex-wives could have had just a physical attraction to Senior the same way most women react to Junior, but . . . . adding cash to the mix might have made him irresistible . . . especially if you were #4 or #5 and you knew about numbers one, two and three!

It's one of those names that used to be a male name, then became popular for girls when girls started being given male names, and now I guess it is more common for females. But it could well be a family name for males in a family--or it could be his mom's maiden name, preserved in the family as his first name. Like Lee---back in the day it was so common as a male name that one of my freshwomen friends was assigned to a seminar section that was supposed to be all male (because it met in a library only open to men) because her name was Lee---she caused quite the stir clicking through the library in her high heels, tight skirt and clingy sweater. We all felt they deserved the disruption to their study time---even way back then, when this was legal here, it was so like the Taliban's view that women must be invisible least they distract men and lure their thoughts to sin, and we knew it, even if we couldn't express it. These days they'd probably assume a Lee was female if anything.
