    Re: Elementary

I like Elementary. I don't look at it as a continuation of the Sherlock Holmes stories (and I've read them all), but I like the common sense "pay attention" theme. (And I really enjoy watching with my son because it helps reinforce the whole "look at the details and use logic" theme that I'm trying to instill in him.)

BTW, the staff writers are on Twitter and sometimes live-tweet during the show (East Coast time zone).

OK, any Sherlock fans out there? Were you as stunned as I was to see that his love was alive?

I thought he was seeing thngs but previews show that she's alive and mentions her having been held for eighteen months.

Elementary is my favourite show right now. Looking forward to the two hour finale next week.

I took a look, but still don't watch. I'm a fan of Jonny Lee Miller, but I think it just shows disrespect for Arthur Conan Doyle. Same concept, different character names and new plots and I'd probably be a regular viewer.

Brilliant drug addicted detective and his assistant, a doctor.... Set in today's world what kind of doctor would that be? Yet the characters are very strong...so to make it not a costume drama but in today's world they've had to make a few changes. But if they kept the characters and changed the names how many people would be saying...what? this is s total rip off of Sherlock Holmes! So they went with it... I'm actually enjoying how they are referencing the Holmes stories but tweaking them. They are using the characters, but in a slightly off way--think of it as an homage!

The staff writers tweet almost every week during the show (@ElementaryStaff), and they provide references to some of the lines. They also give some behind-the-scenes info that's just fun.
