For those who liked the Brady Bunch characters, the show is now on MeTV. I watched the episode where Marcia thought her dentist asked her out on a date. Alice, the live-in maid/housekeeper, was a great character... but, I've never known anyone who had hired help.

Wally, from Leave it to Beaver, is the ideal big brother. Then there's Ward Cleaver, who always was at home, and always patiently gave wise advice. June was always contentedly preparing dinner when the boys came home from school. My favorite characters, from several TV shows, are too good to be true. The characters from Leave it to Beaver are as much of a fantasy as Dr. Sam Beckett, from Quantum Leap, and Gary Hobson, from Early Edition.
Emergency! is on MeTV six days a week. Some of the "characters" on Emergency! were real. One of the firefighters at the station on the show was a real firefighter, and his character's name was his real name. The firefighter belonged to the screen actor's guild, and had done commercials and modeling. The show supposedly wanted a real firefighter to drive the engine because the engine was expensive. The fire captain for half of the first season was played by a real fire captain, who quit the show because of the long hours. The fire captain also had a screen actor's guild card, and did 100 commercials, including playing the Marlboro Man. The dispatcher on the show was a real dispatcher.
