Everyone on The Dick VanDyke Show! Buddy and Sally were great.
GREAT, GREAT thread!!!! My head is spinning from thinking about all the wonderful characters on tv for so many years. Guess, after all my complaining about what's wrong with tv, this thread is reminding me of what's RIGHT with tv!!!
Here's just a few of my favorites:
Richard Chamberlain as Dr. Kildaire (my 1st tv crush!)
(And Richard Chamberlain again as Father Ralph on The Thornbirds, with Rachel Ward)
LA Law: Harry Hamlin
My So-Called Life: Angela and Jordan Catalano (also loved Angela's dad!)
Friday Night Lights: Coach Eric Taylor, Tami Taylor, and Tim Riggens
Dallas: Bobby + Pam Ewing
The Homefront cast, especially Kyle Chandler
Cheers: Sam and Diane
General Hospital: Ricky Martin (in the 1990s as Miguel Morez)
Days of Our Lives: Marlena and John (especially in the old days), and Laura and Bill (in the old, old days)
Once And Again: Sela Ward + Billy Campbell
Mash: Hawkeye Pierce (Alan Alda)
The Cosby Show: Clair Huxtable, and Denise Huxtable
Rhoda: Rhoda Morgenstern and Joe Gerard
And of course, last but not least, the Sex and the City ladies and Mr. Big‼‼
I Love Lucy - Cast
Lost - Cast
Downton Abbey - Cast
Cheers - Cast
and I am insanely fond of Sherlock and Foyle's War Casts!
I heartily second all your cast choices, Mike'sgirl, and would all the casts of Burn Notice and White Collar.
Ooh, remember James Brolin in Marcus Welby, MD? Not bad, either!
Kyle Chandler's character, Gary Hobson, in Early Edition.
More families that I loved were:
Shirley Partridge of The Partridge Family with kids including Keith Partridge (David)
The Brady Bunch, staring Mike and Carol Brady, all the kids and Alice
I felt like I was one of their family members!
Greg Evigan in B.J. and the Bear. He didn't need the chimp.
Randy Mantooth on Emergency. My first TV crush. There was no need for other firefighters, he could do it all.
Johnathan and Jennifer Hart on Hart to Hart. I loved them as a couple, they could have sat on the porch talking about their adventures and it still would be interesting to watch.
"Bosco" Boscarelli in 3rd Watch. He was so complex and there was so much to learn about him.
George Clooney on ER. His dating life and back story could have been the whole show.
Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy. I wanna know his entire life story.
Sheldon Cooper on BBT. He annoys the hell out of me, yet makes me laugh out loud.
Victor Newman on Y&R. His love life/disappearances/near death experiences.
J.R. Ewing on Dallas. No explanation needed.
Carla Tortelli on Cheers. She annoyed me to no end, the sarcasm was always in your face and not so nice. Isn't it said that what we most don't like in others is what we don't like about ourselves? When I was younger, I totally identified with her aloof, snotty nature. I didn't fall for loser guys like she did though.
Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds. His mind/brain fascinates me, although Shemar Moore distracts me.
Kate Beckett on Castle. Again, I want to know everything about her background/childhood.
Rose Nylund on Golden Girls. Her stories about her hometown always made me laugh. She reminded me a lot of my beloved grandmother. Maybe it was her hair do.
Spike Nelson in Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High. I loved that she was so different, with that crazy hairstyle and clothing. I didn't want to be that "out there" in high school but wished I had her courage. Her pregnancy storyline was realistic. This was a great Canadian show, way ahead of the times.
