I like Martin Short and he is funny as all heck but sometimes he is just too much of an attention hog. I've seen him on various talk shows and he is always "on." Sometimes, I would just like him to take a chill pill and talk nicely to the talk show host about what is going on in his life.

He's the lead singer for the band Matchbox Twenty, but he also is a solo recording artist. I don't know much about him other than the pop music of his I've heard on the radio but I get the feeling he is a good egg. I know that every year he performs at Blyesthdale (spelling) Children's Hospital in New Jersey at a special Christmas concert for the sick children. It's hosted by the radio dj's of WPLJ- NYC, Scott and Todd.

Thanks, ECM. I hate to add that I never heard of Matchbox Twenty, either. Maybe I've heard some of their music but didn't know it was them. Re Martin Short, I think his "always on" energy would be a positive for me because although Kelly is doing a valiant job, her shtick just gets monotonous to me. Martin would liven things up and shake 'em up, too!

I cannot think why Martin Short would want to do this except as an occasional co-host. He is a highly respected actor and comedian with a great deal of work being offered to him. I hope it is not Michael Strahan. I think he's[ a better sports analyst than talk show co-host.

I wasn't aware that Martin Short is doing a great deal of work. I never see him on talk shows promoting anything he's doing. Besides, it takes all of about an hour a day, plus time in the makeup chair and doing occasional taped segments, to host this show.

He and Kelly are apparently good friends in real life, as are Kelly and NPH. For some reason, that seems to make for a more boring host chat. Not quite sure why that is. Maybe they just know each other too well, so there is no edge. Each is "out-nicing" the other. I think they should go for Martin Short and be done with this endless co-host search.

But NPH is totally nice as a co-host too, as well as charming, funny and entertaining. He would be fabulous on a permanent basis! Kelly and Mark are good friends with Andy Cohen too --- and Andy is also totally fun and entertaining as co-host whenever he's on. (Of course, sadly, he wouldn't be available as a permanent co-host with all of his his ties/involvment at Bravo.) By the way, I think Martin Short would be great -- and maybe he would calm down after a while, and just be 'himself' some of the time.

Back to Michael Strahan for a moment, though, his fiance Nicole (ex-wife of Eddie Murphy), is co-starring on the new VH1 reality show, Ex-Hollywood Wives. He hasn't been on the show yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. . . Maybe he'll be more interesting after we get to see him "at home" --- in a completely different venue.

I think they are smart to wait until they make a decision because it makes sense, instead of because a timeline says so. Look what happened with the Today Show. When Meredith Vierra left, they felt pressure to name her replacement right away. They made a choice that didn't work well, and a year later were in chaos again. When the chemistry works, and the contract can be negotiated, make an announcement.

Sorry! Rob is a gifted song-writer and performer, so incredibly talented and such a good guy (Sidewalk Angels Foundation) that I thought everyone knew who he was. Matchbox Twenty is coming out with a new cd in September and I'm sure his appearance on Kelly is connected to that.

Same here. I think tomorrow is Michael Strahan again, then Kevin Jonas, then Carrie Ann Inaba. Count me out of the viewership for the latter two. I like to mute Carrie Ann on DWTS and cannot stand her at all on this show.

YES!!! That is waht has happened. They had a long lead in to Regis' leaving. and now they have had 7 months. This should have been done in a more efficient way. Just seeing the SAME names over and over as guests hosts is so boring and I have not watched the show for more than 5 minutes since that became clear.
