I totally thought the same thing.

My daughter and I watch together on Friday mornings (she works nights) and we've both thought for two weeks now (no episode last week) that he would get shot. Something about the breathy voice singing "Happy Birthday Mr. President" sent shivers up my spine! Didn't work out so well for JFK. The streak had to continue.

Just finished watching it. Great episode. I never thought Edison was right for Olivia and I don't think he'll be around in the long term. I'm really liking the way Olivia is "mentoring" Harrison. Quinn has bugged me from the first time she was on... nothing's changed that for me.

Personally I find these humane mouse traps rather ineffective. Better to lay down some glue and when you hear the critter scream you take a shovel to his head.

I got the vibe that she knew what was coming, she just didn't know when it would be happening. I really hope she isn't behind the whole thing just to get rid of him.

I would doubt Millie would know, or be behind/involved in the shooting, simply because she clearly loves being the First Lady. All that would end if Fitz was assassinated. That, and she just doesn't come across as being that cold hearted. I really love her character on the show too. It could also be that Fitz wasn't the actual target. I am just so thrilled that they removed the Olivia/Fitz love interest. It really dumbs down Olivia's character IMHO.

They removed the Olivia/Fitz love interest? In what way?

I don't think she knew. I think they made it look like she knew. I think you will find Olivia is still very much in love with Fitz. and he with her. He has no time for his wife

Well they certainly haven't removed the Olivia / Fitz story line, and I'm guessing it's about to heat up once again, now that Fitz has returned and has seen those photos of Olivia and Edison. Did you not see the look of pure jealousy on Fitz' face? as he was looking at the photos? That was definitely not the face of a man who no longer loves a woman.

And the Fitz / Olivia story line is indeed the backbone of this show. The chemistry between these two is intense. The producers know this, so I don't think they'll be completely ending that story line anytime soon. I absolutely disagree that it dumbs Olivia's character down.

Agreed. I don't think it dumbs her down - it shows her vulnerabilities. Totally different things. The Fitz/Olivia chemistry is one of the reasons I got hooked on this show. I probably wouldn't watch if they removed that storyline completely.

    Re: Scandal

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Olivia is supposed to be the person who gets others out of scandals, she is supposed to know better, but yet she puts herself into the biggest scandal of all. I think she appears weak, and vapid, like a silly school girl, when she crushes on Fitz. Yes, their storyline is a part of the show, but I don't consider it to be the backbone. To me, it is the relationships between those that work with her, that is most interesting for me. I am not missing the constant moping about that she was doing and I like the relationship she is cultivating with the senator. To me, Fitz is kind of an ass. He wants his cake and eat it too. I have to wonder if he is aware that he actually did not win the Presidential race, but that it was rigged? Now that is a storyline that is keeping me tuned in.
