In addition to wearing a beautiful dress, Jane Fonda looked GORGEOUS. What a body! And her face and skin look fabulous. And the woman is 75 years old!!!! Wow!

I also liked Nicole Kidman's dress a lot too. Much more than Angelina's. BTW, am I the only one who thinks that Angelina is very cold looking? A real ice queen. She kind of gives me the creeps.

She can do what she wants.

NO, Colin Firth could not get yummier.....and now I'll be proved wrong!

omg - I forgot about Jessica - that was horrible, it looked like something out of a horror flick and with the long straggly hair - it made it even worse.

Access put Sarah Michelle Gellar on the worst dressed list - what?? it wasn't that bad. And Zooey =- what?? she looked great in that dress.......and no mention of Meryls or Jessica's atrocities....... Meryl can wear whatever the heck she wants, but even Helen Mirren always looks fabo and I put her in the same class as Meryl and Jane Fonda. At least make an effort.

Charlize Theron always looks like a Goddess..

I saw a best and worst dressed list that listed both Michelle Williams and Meryl Streep as best dressed...and I was all like, hell no. I think it was the New York Times or something. If anything, the aforementioned ladies were amongst the worst of the worst dressed. Which, frankly, Meryl Streep never looks good. I can't think of not even one instance where she didn't attend an awards show looking disheveled, frumpy and dowdy. She needs a stylist, pronto.

I dont think she cares, her work alone ( recognised or not) is enough for her, when I think about it, its enough for me.I would rather see a good actress dress frumpy than the reverse. I doubt she would work with a stylist after all ths time.kwim?

You're probably not too far from the truth.

Many, many years ago my brother-in-law was up for an Emmy for set design. He said the show was so boring and dragged out that he fell asleep. He was completely missing his category until his wife gave him a nudge. He didn't win and decided to go back to sleep. He admitted that the two glasses of wine he'd had beforehand to calm his nerves didn't help...

Edited to add: Now he is a college professor and says he is so relieved that he doesn't have to deal with all of the Hollywood hype anymore.

    Re: 2012 Golden Globe Awards

Re Angelina Jolie: I think the dress and the hair combined to make her look especially thin (and if you can look thin in white, you're thin), because the dress was very angular and sculptural and her hair was slicked back. In fact, I thought ice queen right away too--I think that may have been the look she was deliberately going for at the GGs, though in general she does IMO give off a kind of extreme reserve at those kind of events. I don't know if she's just naturally not one to warm up to strangers (or relative strangers) easily or quickly--some people, stars or not, just aren't--or if it's her way of keeping over-eager fans/photographers at bay.

As for her general thinness, I read in some entertainment magazine at the gym (so take the source for what it's worth) that Angelina goes on regular fasts as a sign of solidarity with those she visits during her work with UNICEF (or whatever humanitarian group it is she works with) and that it drives Brad nuts, because he doesn't think it's wise or healthy. Supposedly, he keeps insisting she see doctors, but thus far, said doctors haven't found anything wrong with her as a result of the fasts. If this is at all true, I can kind of see both their points. It would be hard, I think, to eat consistent, healthy meals while surrounded by people who are seldom or never able to do that, but at the same time, if you're traveling all over the place on behalf of said people and not eating properly, not to mention the acting/directing and being a parent to multiple kids, you could easily get sick and/or exhaust yourself.

For some award show a while back, Meryl had Chris March make a dress for her, and I thought he did a good job dressing her. It was much more reserved looking than his usual stuff and age appropriate without looking frumpy. But yeah, I don't think Meryl is an actress who's overly worried about what the fashion critics say about her--and she doesn't have to be, because her work stands on its own.

She doesn't have to eat in front of them.Besides, she has small children that need her to be well.A friend of ours went on one their junkets with them, they take a pretty big entourage with them.( hair. food, chef nannies)
