Wow, Scott Caan must be about 5 feet tall, 'cause Anna Paquin is not a tall girl and he looks like a hobbit next to her.

I'm surprised TAR won. I love the show and think it's deserving, but didn't think it would go back to getting the Emmys again. I thought Idol would finally win. The reality show host category is jokingly referred to as the Jeff Probst award, as he has won it since they introduced it, so I guess the reality competition award should be re-named the TAR award.

Good show so far. I usually get burned out on awards shows, but nothing else on tonight, and it's been enjoyable so far.

Seeing the drama category video just reminded me that Kadee Strickland didn't get a nomination for Private Practice. Considering the work she did this season, that's almost criminal. She was amazing.

Just caught a glimpse of George R. R. Martin in the audience!

Supporting Actress in a Drama goes to.....Margo Martindale from Justified. I like her, although I don't watch the show.

Hmm....the drama shows montage was composed almost entirely of cable series.

Was glad to see White Collar get a shot in that montage. I wouldn't mind seeing them get some nominations too, but I think it's difficult to categorize as entirely a drama or entirely a comedy. Heck, at least let Matt and Tim present an award together. Matt Bomer looks great in a tux.

I wonder who designed the set. People seem to be having trouble with those shiny, mirrored steps.

It seems like those steps are pretty steep too. They should have someone at the bottom to escort winners up if they need it.

As for the drama montage, not much going on with great drama that isn't on cable lately.

Actually, that was kind of my point--when all the drama highlights (or almost all of them) come from cable, what does that say about what the networks are doing (or aren't doing)?

ITA about the steps. What were they planning on doing if Betty White had won? She's very fit for someone nearing 90, but she is also fairly petite. I wouldn't want to see her trying to scale those steps unassisted. It shouldn't be up to the people in the front row to have to jump up and help someone up the stairs.

After the Bret Michaels incident at the Tonys, you'd think award shows would be really careful with sets and try and anticipate obvious problems.

Wow, what a shock. Scorsese wins for directing. Sorry, don't watch Boardwalk Empire and I'm not much of a Scorsese fan. Call me cynical, but I think many voted for him because of who he is, not for his work on that show.

Dang, it's about time they did Best Supporting Actor in a Drama! This is the category I've been waiting for.

    Come on Peter Dinklage!

And the winner is....... Peter wins!
