    Re: The Killing (AMC)

Season 1 ended at day 13, season 2 started at day 18 so we missed a week. We didn't see her catch a return flight immediately back to Seattle or hear (probably by phone the final break up with Sonoma.) We didn't see how she presented the false toll booth evidence that cleared the councilman, nor did we see the diagnosis that probably puts him in a wheelchair for life. What is also missing is how she reacted when she confronted Holder about the fake toll booth photos.

At the end of day 18, Stan was tempted by his wife's sister. His wife is longing for her daughter and may try to save a street kid. Without the political connection they thought they had (thanks to Holder) they are shifting gears to look at Mob involvement. There is no knowledge yet if Rosie's mom and dad have been told of her escort service activities. Oh, and the ex-husband is trying to take an active role in her son's life much to her anger.

they are shifting gears to look at Mob involvement- plot development.

Ariel, I think you must have missed some episodes. This season started on April 1 on days 14-15 (two hours back to back). Linden got off the plane when she figured the toll booth photos were faked and Jack spotted the news of Belko shooting Richmond and she headed back to town. Sarah met with the DA in ep 2 (day 15) and gave her evidence that cleared Richmond. Richmond's paralysis from the gun shot wound was covered in ep 3 & 4. Linden acted her usual anti-social self and ignored Holder for a while but he realized he was duped by his old cop mentor and then more duped by other higher-ups with the debacle around testing Rosie's mysteriously turning up back pack. So that's why Linden & Holder are all cool now. This past Sunday's episode was the 5th one.

And yeah, in true board form, I said I wasn't going to watch this damn show, but I'm kind of hate-watching it. I don't expect resolution and I enjoy laughing at the characters' stupidity. And I just really, really like Holder.

    Hate-watching. Good term.

Didn't they also throw in there at the end of the last show that Stan wasn't Rosie's biological father? Hmm..

WOW! Thanks so much for the recap. I really thought I saw "first episode" on the cable listing. Now, I'm unconfused.

I don't get how casino people can do whatever they want. Poor Holder, that was one vicious beating!

Wasn't watching this anymore either, but I got sucked back in anyway. How many more red herrings???

    Re: The Killing (AMC)

I swear, this show is pure comedy gold at this point. First you've got Richmond, who a mere 8 days after having been shot, paralyzed, and needing apparently a permanent catheter and/or colostomy bag, is clear to get out of the hospital and campaign. So he's not bullet proof but he's infection proof? Are there some sort of double secret probation antibiotics privy only to city-level politicians?

Then there's MagicCPS. The MagicCPS know where Linden is and turn up in the middle of the night to question her, all MIB style, about her 13 year old son left alone during an (apparent) weekend day. Meanwhile, last season there was no MagicCPS to help out the girl who Ahmed was aiding. And MagicCPS also (a) works on the weekend and (b) trolls all hotels for Linden's registration, as she's only been there ONE day. I hope MagicCPS turns out to be agents of either the shady cops or the shady casino people or it will not make any sense.

Annnnd then there's the casino people. First of all, I'm very put-off by how they're portraying Native Americans, like they're all a bunch of mythical creatures who speak in stories, have super-sensors as to trespassers, and beat-downs. I've only had the pleasure of knowing a couple of Native Americans, one who in fact, works for one of the largest east coast Native American casinos, and they are just normal, lovely people not given to speak in tales, have super-sensors to trespassers, or beat-downs any more than any other person I know. But then, what they did with Ahmed, it should be no shock. Plus the whole casino stuff--I don't do Indian Gaming (as it's called here, apologies to the Native Americans) but I understand the basic set-up, as it is ancillary to the non-Native gaming stuff I do. The established Tribes/Nations have a compact with the state they reside in; there are federal oversights on law enforcements from the FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs for non-Tribal crimes; there is either a state gambling/gaming commission or a Native American equivalent, and each property has tight guidelines/laws that govern everything, down to bathroom breaks for security officers on the gaming floors. So no, the casino stuff makes very, very little real-life sense to me, but then Holder was smoking in the hotel and elevator, which is just crazy on every level. I doubt any real life Native American Fire Marshall would be pleased.

For my final note, I'm wondering if Liam James is cursing the fact he got older and stuck on this show and not on Psych any more and used that as motivation for his last scene in the car with Linden.

Absolutely agree with your analysis, PG. I don't know which was worse: the casino thugs or the CPS superagents. Gawd.

Holder is the only character that really interests me. Plus, I want him to cook me some of that breakfast!

I'm not sure what the point is of continuing to watch the show just to complain about things.

lol nope. The thing that drives me crazy about this show is that there is always something bad happening... The viewers never get a moment to breathe and be satisfied with something. It's always doom and gloom. And the mystery upon mystery. There are so many ?'s that need to be answered that I've forgotten most of the original point of this show. Yet I still watch, so either they are doing something right or I am imbalanced. lol.
