Mr. Sunshine on ABC

The episodes are funny and the dialogue is pretty crisp, but I think the show has the same fatal flaw as Studio 60: All of the conflicts aren't really conflicts. They have to invent silly things like the dog show in order to get the characters into tight situations. And having someone constantly bitch about having a job that most people would dream about having, like running an arena or producing an SNL-like comedy show, is itself kind of ridiculous. Most people would kill to switch with these people, so why would they constantly act like they are in hell?

But I'm still watching and (for the most part) enjoying it.

I'm still mucking thru these shows because I adore Matthew Perry but I don't have high hopes for it.
He's funny, Alison is funny, the jokes are funny but it's not meshing. Yet.

I watched the first 3 on hulu back-to-back and enjoyed them. Kathy Najimy... lying low in the background with just a few spoken words? I hope they plan to use her more than that!!!

This last episode with the dog show is the first one I've actually enjoyed. I loved the double date and Heather might be my favorite character (after Allison). I'm still watching...hoping that it continues to improve and finds it's footing. I don't have high expectations though.

I love this show and the cast. And having worked in professional athletics, I can tell you a lot of the personalities are realistic in venue management.

The show has been cancelled, one of 7 ABC prime time shows to bite the dust. "Better With You" was the other comedy to be cancelled.

I think I just saw that Matthew Perry is heading back to rehab.... Somehow I missed he'd been there before, but anyway, if he was in need that couldn't have helped the prospects of the show.
The show had some great actors in it, in large parts and small, but never really gelled... so I guess we can blame the writers for this one mostly.
