    Re: The Walking Dead (AMC)

Now I can post this without spoiler tags.... The Entertainment Weekly article said that Shane gets killed in the books very early on, but Frank Darabont thought that it was too interesting a storyline to NOT explore further. I'm sure they'll really get into the Shane/Rick/Lori triangle next season.

That "attack" scene with Shane and Lori was really hard to watch. He's starting to go off the reservation a bit, although I guess that's to be expected. Plus, you can see now why he thought Rick was dead. I'm surprised that he survived after seeing those scenes in the hospital. Apparently, all you need to fend off zombies is a hospital gurney!

The article also talks about a character in the books called the Governor, who is this evil, sadistic guy. When someone asked Darabont if Merle would reappear in season 2 as the Governor, he seemed to think that was an interesting idea. He didn't confirm either way, but he may have been covering. I think it would be a great way to bring Merle back in.

'The Walking Dead' finale breaks ratings records

The ratings for "The Walking Dead's" just-ended first season have been such that perhaps AMC is wishing that it had lasted more than just six weeks.

The anticipation for the season finale garnered six million viewers, according to the network, and it received the highest ratings of any basic cable show, ever, in the all-important 18-49 demographic.

To put those numbers into perspective, October's season finale of "Mad Men" had an audience of 2.44 million, according to TVbytheNumbers.com.

(On the other hand, that 18-49 number is very important, because the New York Post reported in 2007 that a post-"High School Musical 2" episode of "Hannah Montana," with much of its audience under 18, averaged 10.7 million viewers.)

As hot as "The Walking Dead" is, it's not quite to the level of some episodes of "The Sopranos" final season, which on two occasions had around 13 million viewers.

Still, the network says that "The Walking Dead's" average 18-49 viewership of 3.5 million for this season makes it the most watched drama series in basic cable history in the demographic.

Not only is this great for the show, but it's great for viewers. This means AMC will be encouraged to create more original programming. Since most of the stuff on the regular networks is crap, I'd welcome more AMC series.

    The Walking Dead on AMC

Surprised to not find a thread about this show here on FORT.

Anyone else watch it? I'm catching up late.

Excellent! I'd love to watch again and catch the little things I might have missed.

I wonder who won that "stumble on" role as a zombie? That would be a blast.

Just for a little more information on the marathon:

It starts this Tuesday (Jan 18) by airing the first 3 episodes (in order) and then replaying them right after. It ends this Wednesday (Jan 19) by airing the last 3 episodes (in order) and then replaying them again.

I know I'm coming in late to this. But we just watched all the episodes.

My husband thinks that the doctor whispered in Rick's ear about what happened between Shane and Lori. He thinks the doctor saw it on camera.

Bumping for the premiere of season two tonight!

They're running a marathon right now for those who want to catch up. The premiere episode is an hour and a half. (wish we had a zombie smiley... )
